Dear X17, I want to apologize for the past incident with the umbrella. I was preparing a character for a possible movie role where the husband doesn't play his part so they swap places. Unfortunately I didn't get the part, I'm sorry I got a lil carried away with my role!
There's this article which was posted on here quite a lot about the cost of Man Down. It basically broke down each stage of the process of making the song and then giving it a release. I can't find the link though.
Why so expensive? Take "California Gurls." It features Snoop Dogg. He's pricey. And the producers on the song — Dr. Luke and Max Martin (among others), who charge around $100,000 per song. And there are 12 tracks on the album.
I think producers receive a certain amount of royalties, not outright sums of money. Probably the more well established the producer, the more percentage of the share they get.
Darkchild said he charges $50,000 and Dr.Luke charges $100,000. He apparently did a special deal for Marina and the Diamonds, 'Primadonna' and 'Lies' for $150,000.
Also, the more songs a producer does, the less he charges overall because they will do a discount and they might get their song become a single.
Madonna did Girls Gone Wild and the producer of the song said that he hasn't made any money from the song yet but he will do when the song becomes a single and is played on tour and on radio.
Lil' Wayne apparently charges between $250-500,000
