Janelle Monáe - "Dorothy Dandridge Eyes" and "Electric Lady"
Janelle Monae’s taken her time recording the followup to her starmaking 2010 debut The ArchAndroid, but she recently took to the stage at the Toronto Jazz Festival to debut two new songs, reportedly connected to her two upcoming albums. If you can handle a bit of ambient crowd noise, check out the recordings – “Electric Lady” pays as much homage to classic disco-funk as it does to Monae muse Jimmy Hendrix, while slow jam “Dorothy Dandridge Eyes” brings the tender, lilting strings and stirring, orchestral balladry. They’re two very, very different songs, which has us really curious about where Monae’s going – hopefully, we’ll see really soon.
Opacho goddamnit I just wanted to come in here to see DWUW's radio update, and instead I immediately see you're embarrassing the Monsters yet AGAIN. Shut the **** up about payola, why can't you just accept that Katy is a radio beast? People were dying for Dark Horse a la TEOG/Judas situation, like you of all people as Gaga's ~top stan~ should understand that
