I just don't get it...
She had a hit in the 80's with 'Loco Motion', but didn't see the light again in about a decade with "Can't Get You Out of My Head". I think her music is appealing enough for the US audience, but she still... flops.
She has one Grammy for "Come Into My World", and that's the only one.
Why? Why is she so underrated in the US?

Ugh, I don't know but it breaks my heart. There are so many less deserving artists that the United States worship yet a legend like Kylie is virtually ignored by the U.S. radio. I thought Timebomb had a chance to really slay but that fell through.

I'm okay with it a bit because I know the rest of the world respects her.

She is wildly popular throughout Europe, especially here in the UK and also in Australia and Asia.

In my opinion, she has never had mainstream success in the US because her music was classified as 'too gay' and 'too disco' in a time when urban music in the 90's was very popular. Even artists like Madonna who's music was very 'gay', went urban for some time. The Locomotion was a success in the 80's because that was when disco and that kind of sound was popular. Madonna was having success with that genre in the 80's too.

The US didn't need Kylie because they had Madonna and Kylie lived in her shadow in the States.

It's the same as Grace Jones. She's well known, she's well respected and people know her songs but she doesn't have mainstream chart success. Both of their music were big in clubs though.

Cause even though her music was too gay for Hot 100, she still didn't top Dance/Club charts until recently
They failed to sell her to US i suppose and now it's waaaay too late.

Her discography is REALLY great, better than Madonna's in my opinion. Probably Americans are not here for Aussies.

I never understood this either. Kylie is an amazing artist and her discography is out of this world. But I would agree on the fact that some Americans could be turned off by her campy music (which is actually what got me to stan for her).

But even if she's not wildly popular, at least a lot of people appreciate and know her artistry.

Kylie had some success in the US around 2001-2002, her album fever went platinum in the states and she had 1 top 10 hit which" was can't get you out of my head" and "love at first sight" which was a top 30 hit.

What songs do you expect her to have success in the U.S. with?

"2 Hearts" could have done okay in the U.S., but "In My Arms", "Wow", "The One", "All The Lovers", "Get Outta My Way", "Put Your Hands Up" are all too light and camp, like anthems you would hear in the Castro district. But the rest of the U.S. is not the Castro district.
