Kelly - a pop artist, is also a CMA and ACM award winner. Considering how stuck up country voters can be that says a lot about how well respected she is.

I just wanna point out that Elvis Presely never wrote a damn song of his own. The true test of an artist is believability. Read every review from the Stronger Tour. Kelly covered a different song at every stop and all the reviewers said how great it was and how it seemed like that song belonged to her.
It's already been pointed out, but Kelly does write most of the lyrics and medley. As she's said she only puts her name in the credit if she wrote a chunk of the material. She could have easily requested songwriting credit on her biggest hits like SUBG and WDKY but she didn't. As she changed the vocal arrangement on SUBG and she changed a few lyrics in WDKY. Even the songs she's listed as a co-writer sometimes she's the sole writer. For instance, Irvine. She wrote the lyrics and medley and her guitarist, Aben, wrote the music totally separately and Kelly thought that the music went perfectly with what she had written.
And the argument of "musician" is rather dumb. Kelly knows how to play several instruments (piano, guitar, violin) but doesn't do it often live. Her band members will be the first to tell you that Kelly will tell them which chords she wants in certain songs. Kelly's musical director always says that Kelly is the one that comes up with the live rearrange of the songs as well. He even said she was the one that did the rearrangement to Already Gone this past tour. Keep in mind the intro is a seven piece a capella arrangement!!
So how does that make guitar playing a talent for Taylor? Give me a damn break, her "compositions" are like 4 different chords in the entire song. Now you are just treading on your own feet. We can strike guitar playing as one of Taylor's "talents" then.

Knowing how to play an instrument is not enough. You should be good at it for it to be considered as your talent.
I mean anyone could claim that they know how to play.
So that argument can be used the other way in saying "knowing how to sing isn't enough. You should be good at it for it to be considered as your talent" ?? Because Taylor isn't that great of a vocalist. Even Scott Bruschetta, her label head, pretty much implied that, "It's not about that technically perfect performance."
Not only can Kelly play, and has played. But she is WAY more knowledge when it comes to vocals as well. Kelly is a classically trained vocalist. The girl didn't get 3 full college scholarships for her singing for nothing!

Just because Taylor will strum her 5 chords in front of an audience and Kelly will strum those same 5 chords with her band doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Just pointing out that Kelly has a lot of musical knowledge not only can she play a few instruments but she knows enough about chords to do vocal arrangements. They're both talented in their own unique way and they both deserve the success they've gotten. Kelly is a vocal chameleon, we all know that, she's just perfection. And Taylor, she's an amazing songwriter and performer as well. The quality that these two girls share at its best: They're both so down to earth and sweet to their fans
I'm not even gonna vote cause I don't think it's necessary, y'all need to give credit where credit is due cause both Kelly & Taylor are talented, it's not fair to put them up against each other.

I read the list of song writers of '' Stronger '' ( the song ) and Kelly wasn't there.
Because Kelly does not put her name on it with changes. She made changes on: SUBG, MLWSWY, and WDKY. Though, she never wanted to take away credit from the original song.

So the only songs by Taylor that you listened to were Today Was A Fairytale and White Horse?

she didn't get a record deal immediatly. she got turned down cause she couldn't sing well enough. they told her to come back when she can write music. She did that and thats when she got a deal.

They gave her a development deal for a year ( while she was signed to another record company as a Songwriter only , she wrote music to recording artists ) , and when she came back , they told her that they wanted her to grow more as an artist and that they want to extend the deal to another year .
She was fourteen and she had the guts to walk away from the biggest label in Nashville because she didn't want to wait more .
Then at a Songwriters show case at the Blue Bird Cafe , she performed a couple of her songs and impressed Scott Borchetta , he worked at Universal records but wanted to start his own label , he told her that he can't tell her when it's gonna happen and how long it would take , but he knew that he wanted her as his first artist , and Taylor trusted him and waited .
THAT is how she got signed .
Note that some songs from her debut album were written when she was Thirteen years old .
