Transphobia Among the Gay Community?
By the "gay community", I obviously don't mean the "T" in the phrase LGBT being included, given the general idea of this thread.
I've noticed a lot of hate towards transvestites/transgendered people/androgynous people all over, from ATRL to places in real life.
What the **** is up with that? I mean, I'm not saying all gays are transphobic, but why do you think it occurs, especially among the gay community? 
And please, let's not continue the hate by responding with something along the lines of "Because it's disgusting".
I mean, how you gon' hate on a discriminated group when we gays/bis/etc get hated/discriminated a **** ton already?

I personally don't understand how or why a gay person would be prejudice towards a transgender. It comes off as QUITE hypocritical to me, given that the concept of homosexuality and transsexualism have some similar grounds.

They don't understand them. People don't like what they can't understand. I read a book about a transgendered boy so I have a little idea of where they are coming from. It's just like homophobia but the gay guys don't realize it. I don't understand why they would be transphobic but it happens and it's hypocritical.

In theory it's a nice thought. But every group has someone they 'hate'. Same argument can be used on minorities who tend to be more homophobic.
It's as simple as not being part of that group and not understanding them.

I'm a feminist in a sense. Especially since some men STILL see women as weak and only as something to have sex with. Some still think a woman's whole purpose is to cook, clean, make and take care of the babies while he brings home the bacon. Tying into the whole "no fem" thing, gay guys who are more masculine somehow think that because they fit society's rule of being more manly gives them a sense of superiority over feminine guys. Which is untrue in all cases. If anything, I applaud a feminine guy more for going against the norm and saying **** your rules, I am who I am and I'm owning it. I'm confident in my own skin and I love who I am, so I'm gonna do my own thing. That takes a lot more bravery than conforming to some old-fashioned gender rule.

Are straights denied marriage in many places, or put to death in certain countries?
My point was, gays get discriminated a lot. That's a fact. Why should they/we, of all people, be transphobic?

That's not the point of the thread. The point is: Why is there transphobia in the gay community(gay guys aren't the only ones apart of the gay community) in the first place? Why would a group of people that are already hated and not understood show the same animosity towards people that are different.

I've heard that the gay community can be very judgmental in general, not just towards transpeople. I really don't get it. Although I will say just because a person belongs to a group that is discriminated against, that doesn't mean they automatically will be tolerant towards all discriminated groups.

I never said anything about straights. I don't think anyone should be homophobic, transphobic, or anything of the sort. I just found it ridiculous that an already-hated group is hating on another group that is a bit of a minority like them. That's all.
