ATRL - Discussion: Did the SOPA scare ruin free downloading?

One of the things I've noticed since the SOPA scare is that mediafire is pretty much useless now, and 4shared is a lot more useful. To an extent

It's a lot harder to find current songs to download, though I lucked out at 4shared and was able to get 4 of the PFRR tracks, Curiosity by Carly Rae Jepsen, Wide Awake, Brokenhearted, Chasing the Sun, and so forth.

I luck out a lot better with unreleased tracks - I got so many Avril Lavigne B-Sides that it's friggin' awesome. I also did better with older songs like Never Had a Dream Come True by S Club 7, or Let Me Go by 3 Doors Down.

Better yet, just the song title got me lucky with Timebomb by Kylie Minogue.

But I feel like it's just not the same as it was in 2010 and 2011.

What do you think?

Well mediafire is pretty much useless now, but it's still not that tough to find everything. And you can always use a youtube converter as a last resort.

Well, regarding music, I can't really say, because I've stopped downloading music, just because streaming through Spotify is just easier. The only music I've downloaded are leaks, and those are always easy to find.

I've been watching a lot of TV online, and I've had no issues finding shows. Putlocker still works perfectly.

It's just more annoying now. I've been using a YouTube convertor and it just takes longer.

It's made it harder, yes... a lot of filehosting sites no longer work in America. They see that you're in the US and they say "Our service is unavailable in your country."

But in general, I've been buying most of my music lately anyway, so I haven't had a problem... only like if I'm searching for a new album because my physical copy hasn't arrived yet.
