0304 is still my favorite album from her, dance Jewel **** so hard. Too bad she followed that masterpiece up with GAiW, although I love the title track for that one.
And WaiT, Pieces of You is certified 12x but only sold 7.5m? Her label really did the MOST. Half of the girls on this site are pissed off that labels have undercertified their faves and Jewel is over here with a 5x overcertified album.
"Hands" and "Foolish Games" are beautiful. I haven't listened to anything that comes after Spirit, to be honest.

The gap is not that big. Pieces of You also sold 1.40 million through BMG Music Club. Making its total nearly 9 million.
Still way overcertified though.

Dance Jewel is so underrated, especially on here.
And I know, right? But it's still selling fairly well. It's weird to think that it's on the same level as Baby One More Time and Christina Aguilera in terms of sales.
I like to pretend Jewel's last 4 albums never happened. Her first four are flawless.

I miss this sound:
Classic.
I totally see why her success stalled in the 2000's though. Her sound really had no place in that musical era. Her move to country was unfortunately inevitable, it was the only place she really had left to go, and even that failed.
She reminds me of a cross between Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, vocally and physically.
...but better.

"Standing Still" is easily one of my all-time favorite songs. It's so simple and beautiful.
But I agree with you. She was kind of like Rihanna, in the sense that she couldn't decide on one sound. She started off making acoustic/indie music, moved to a blend of acoustic/pop/county, then dance-pop/R&B, and then pure country. And I won't lie, 90% of the songs on her last 4 albums are garbage. I kind of miss the old Jewel. She deserved way more success.
