Britney Spears US Soundscan Album Sales
As the retooled "X Factor," with Spears and Lovato joining fellow judges Simon Cowell and Antonio "L.A." Reid, is set to return to Fox for the new fall season, let's look at the sales track records, per your requests, of the series' newcomers.
First, here are Spears' U.S. album sales to-date:
10.5 million, "…Baby One More Time," 1999
9.2 million, "Oops!...I Did It Again," 2000
4.4 million, "Britney," 2001
3 million, "In the Zone," 2003
1.7 million, "Circus," 2008
1.4 million, "Greatest Hits: "My Prerogative," 2004
1 million, "Blackout," 2007
755,000, "Femme Fatale," 2011
209,000, "The Singles Collection," 2009
131,000, "B in the Mix: The Remixes," 2005
24,000, "B in the Mix: The Remixes: Vol. 2," 2011
Spears' career album sales in the U.S. total 32.5 million. That makes her the 16th-best-selling album artist since the advent of SoundScan data in 1991.

Britney uses autotune the way Jimmy Hendrix used a guitar. It's an instrument.

Its like, every year her album sold 2- 4 million less then the last, & i wonder why the big diffrence from "oops" & "britney" you would think they would both be around the the same numbers seeing how they were released a year or so apart.

She was blacklisted on radio during the entire era, so the sales of "Britney" are impressive. It sold an additional 588,000 copies through BMG Music Clubs.

It is. She's the fourth bestselling female artist in history and only 1.6 million away from Shania, who is at #3. #5 is Reba, who sold less than 30 million.
