The amount of embarrassing, terrible albums that critics uniformly align themselves with has resulted in me carying very little about critical acclaim although my fave has both.

Most of all I care about what I think of my fave's next album.

You can always sell a good album with the success of another one (see 19 by Adele),time,late promotion or song success (see We are young by FUN.)

critical acclaim. People like LMFAO can get massive sales, but are still seen as the laughing stock of the industry and will not be remembered in 10 years time

huge sales,when millions of people buy your albums and songs and you're appreciated by fans around the world then your material must be worthy in some way or another and sometimes critics take things personally

Exactly. The most important thing is whether I like it (good for me). Then whether the public likes it (good for the artist). And then whether the critics like it (irrelevant).
