Will No Doubt succeed in their comeback?
Their new studio album(first after 2001) is due September 25.Some older bands tried to comeback last year such a Evanescence and blink-182 but they failed to make any significant impact.
Will No Doubt face the same fate or will they succeed and make something that will fit in current market?

I hope so
They need to change their previous sound drastically, cause it won't do good nowadays, even though i love it

The thing is No Doubt has never smashed hard consistently.
Tragic Kingdom was massive, then they flopped with the gem Return of Saturn. Rock Steady had successful singles, but the album didn't hit #1. And before all this their debut flopped too!
So I'm not expecting a major smash BEP type thing. I can see the first two singles going pretty well

I'm not too sure.
After what happened to Nelly Furtado and Big Hoops, I'm always wary of these type of comebacks from artists who've been away for years.
The music landscape has changed so much since 2001 (and even The Sweet Escape for Gwen).

Well, Return Of Saturn changed from Ska to Alternative, even in that situation it didn't flop, it sold more than 1.6 million in US and more than 2.5 WW.
Rock Steady wasn't #1 but sales were consistent, close to 3 million in US and more than 4 million WW. It was succesful!
Also, their greatest hits album, The Singles 1992-2003 sold more than 2 million in US and 4 million WW.

Tony Kanal is a pretty prominent songwriter and producer these days, isn't he? He had a big hand in the success of Funhouse. He knows a hit when he hears one.

True. I mean I just never believed them to be massive album sellers. And that's fine. I can see them doing 2M with their upcoming album.
But either way I wouldn't really care. As long as the album is great

Yes, it will debut top 10, the album will open with impressive numbers. They won't have longevity though but will have a big tour that will smash!

what is your definition of success? I love No Doubt, but unless they sell out and totally change their sound, they probably won't have much popular radio success. Their sound is too early 2000s. Now everything has to be electronic dance music to be on the radio. I don't think the general public will still be here for No Doubt. I certainly am though
