Femme Fatale
85/100
Standout Tracks: Trouble For Me, Hold it Against Me, Till the World Ends, He About to Lose Me
Brit's 7th album is a pop-electro-dance album perfection. If Blackout was more into urban, in Femme Fatale, Britney fully embraces the electronic sound. HIAM is a perfect lead single with its dubstep infusion. Till the world ends is an irresistible dance number. Play I Wanna Go if you wanna be a little inappropriate, listen to Inside Out if you feel like to be screwed, jam with Trip to your heart while smoking weed, and why the hell He About to Lose Me was not included in the standard track listing? If you want to listen to Britney's powerful vocals, listen to her sophomore album, if you want to listen to an almost robotic Britney but exudes fun, carefree attitude, listen to this album.

Album: Femme Fatale
Top Tracks: How I Roll, I Wanna Go, Hold it Against Me
Score: 85/100
I'm just a casual Britney fan and I only like a few songs here and there, nonetheless those songs remain to be some of the songs I listen to quite a lot. So when I first heard that Dr. Luke is going to produced her latest album, I was a bit iffy and thinking that the album won't contain songs that will leave quite an impression. Fortunately, I was proven wrong. Yeah, there are songs that are borderline generic like Seal It With a Kiss & Drop Dead Gorgeous or just the plain atrocious and non-listenable, Big Fat Bass, however, the album did contain some gems. Hold it Against Me is probably one of the top Pop singles of last year in my opinion. Even though I wasn't wowed by the verses, the middle eight pushed it to another level where it was able to create a niche of its own in the electro-pop-dance polluted airwaves. Whereas, How I Roll reminds me of the Bubblegum pop Britney except it has a modern twist to it. Then there's I Wanna Go, which is just one of those songs that will latched onto listeners' ears upon first listen with it infectious chorus. Overall, the album succeeded in delivering fun and danceable songs, sure most of it are not groundbreaking but I don't think that is what the album is trying to achieve. Nonetheless, it's coherent but it left enough room for diversity.

Femme Fatale got a great review becuase it was meant to be a pop album. (and it did that)
Born This Way got an awful review because it was meant to be the album of the generation. (and it didn't do that)
my score for BTW would have been extremely higher if she hadn't hyped the album.
|
So you're giving a lower score because you didn't like the way the album was being hyped and marketed?
What does that have to do with the music? That's not what this should be about.

DID YOU NOT READ PROPERLY?
THE ALBUM SUCKED. THE MUSIC SUCKED.
Gaga HYPED AND MARKETED the album as the album of the generation.
so she went in the studio thinking "i have to make the best album ever"
and because of all the pressure she had to make such a good album.
she actually ended up making AWFUL MUSIC.
had she not hyped the album, she wouldn't have had that pressure.
she would have gone into the studio like a normal day
and created something along the lines of 'The Fame Monster'

Cahleb is acting extremely defensive.
Electra Heart is too high.
BTW is too low.
That is all for now.

You seem to quickly forget things you just wrote a few comments ago.
With this, you were saying that you would have given BTW a higher score if it had been marketed differently, even when it was the completely same music on there. Just because of different marketing strategies, not because the music would have been better.
Get it now why I called you out on that?

Album: Femme Fatale
Top Tracks: Trip To Your Heart, Seal It With A Kiss, Till The World Ends
Score: 90/100
After the hot mangled mess that was called 'Circus', I was happy to hear Britney bring the world a more cohesive album. Though I had my apprehension when I heard the album was being produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, I was pleasantly surprised with the sound of the album. It's not deep, but when has Britney ever been significantly deep? 'Femme Fatale' is state-of-the-art pop -- radio friendly, yet peppered with experimental production flourishes that only Britney and co. (and Madonna) can ever truly pull off. Britney's an almost anonymous instrument in this pop machine, yet there's no denying that Britney and co. know amazing pop music & pull it off almost effortlessly. To the album's benefit, it's still just as playable and catchy a year later. My favorite Britney album.

NO.
what i meant was that Born This Way would have had a complete different score if it didn't have it's hype.
without the hype, it would have been a completely different album.

Then you're not scoring it based on expectations, you're scoring it on quality, which other people were doing.

FF lacked personality, and that's a valid criticism based on the music itself. Allowing hype to influence your score sets you up for a bias. You seem awfully bothered by someone else opinions on the album, maybe this thread isn't for you.

That's not what you were saying though, there was no way to understand that sentence in this way imo.
But nvm, now I know what you meant to say.

honey, i couldn't care less.
have you read the last few reviews on Femme Fatale?
they've all said the same thing.
it's a great album that didn't mean to be revolutionary.
which is what i was saying from the start.
