NEW YORK, NY (June 29, 2012)— The season two premiere of MTV’s critically acclaimed hit comedy series “Awkward” drew
2.2 million viewers and garnered a
2.2 rating among P12-34 last night, marking a 29 percent increase over the July 2011 series premiere with both P12-34 and total viewers. For the day, “Awkward” was the #1 original series with P12-34, beating cable and broadcast fare.Including the premiere episode and two encore airings that evening, the series drew in a combined 3.8 million total viewers. Additionally, it was the highest-rated episode of the series among female teens (6.8 rating), more than doubling last year’s debut and ranking #1 across all TV for the day.
“Awkward” also dominated the social conversation, ranking as the top social series of the day according to Trendrr, with both the show and multiple related topics trending on Twitter.
On next week’s all-new episode airing Thursday, July 5 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, Jenna is finally official with Jake and happy to flaunt her newsome twosome…that is, until she hears about the hidden camera that’s been filming Jenna and Matty’s hook-up haven, “the Sanctuary,” for months.
