In my opinion, there are three types of major features.
The first type is the one where the feature sings the bridge/middle 8 (whatever you prefer to call it) and sometimes sings a short verse in the beginning of the song, too. Examples of this:
E.T. (feat. Kanye West) - Katy Perry
What Do You Take Me For? (feat. Pusha T) - Pixie Lott
The second type is the one where it's more of a duet, where the main artists sings the first verse, and the feature sings the second. Examples of this:
Telephone (feat. Beyoncé) - Lady Gaga
Right By My Side (feat. Chris Brown) - Nicki Minaj
The third type is where the feature sings the chorus, and the main artist does the verses. Examples of this:
Love the Way You Lie (feat. Rihanna) - Eminem
Ass Back Home (feat. Neon Hitch) - Gym Class Heroes
So, which type do you prefer?
it does not matter how slow you go as long as you’re not in front of me
if Anyone believes i need rehab thats their own stupidity lol I'm 19 with 5 number one albums, 19 and I've seen the whole world. 19 and I've accomplished more than I could've ever dreamed of, i'm 19 and it must be scary to some people to think that this is just the beginning. I know my talent level and i know i got my head on straight.
I love it when the feature sings the bridge and kind of harmonizes throughout like in 'Remembering Sunday' by All Time Low with Juliet Simms. But sometimes, I also enjoy a full on duet like 'Shed Some Light' with Shinedown and Lzzy Hale or 'If it Means a lot to You" by A Day To Remember and Sierra Kusterbeck. I normally prefer male/female duets, but i've also heard some female/female and male/male that have actually worked quite well. Like Art of Dying 'Raining" with Adam Gontier or the Kelly Clarkson/Demi Lovato duet.
Overall, I love features and think they really spice up an album interestingly. I think every artist should have at least 1.
"Thank you for reminding me of why I'm sick inside. Thank you for the venom, did you think it would paralyze? These scars I scratch, I tear, are there under my skin where you've always been. Thank you for reminding me to SIN WITH A GRIN :D"
I stan for: Shinedown - Three Days Grace Hardcore fan of: Evanescence - Daughtry - Nirvana - Apocalyptica - Kris Allen - LIGHTS - Breaking Benjamin
of course Feauture sings chorus it would be mean that the feature has taken some part in the success of the song and sometimes this kind of feature makes the song what it is because it's the hook that people will notice and memorize
“I’m becoming a little more comfortable in front of the camera. I wasn’t used to it before. I was thrown into a new lifestyle and everything I do is kind of filmed or photographed. I’m a private guy. I like to keep to myself. I’m shy, maybe. It gets kind of tricky for me but, I’m beginning to find the fun in it. I don’t take myself too seriously so if I’m front of the camera, that’s what you’re going to get, me clowning around."(Bruno Mars)
Did Christina have that much of an impact on making MLJ that popular? Or was it a song that could have blown up without the feature? I used to think E.T. could have done without Kanye but now I like Kanye's verse more than the original song
When the features artist sings either the chorus or one verse, along with the bridge so that it feels more like a duet. When rappers are featured on songs by singers, though, I prefer when they do the bridge.
