Kelly Clarkson Returns to Hot 100 Peak, Makes Idol History
At the Hot 100's apex, Clarkson's "Stronger" returns to No. 1 (4-1) for a third week on top. The song earns top Airplay Gainer accolades for a fourth consecutive week, pushing 4-3 on Radio Songs (110 million, up 21%). On Digital Songs, "Stronger" advances 5-2, although with a 4% decline to 241,000 downloads sold.
Of the hundreds of songs that have been released by artists who got their start on American Idol, Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" this week becomes the first to log three weeks at #1 on the Hot 100.
Three songs by Idol contestants have each logged two weeks at #1: Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" (2002) and "My Life Would Suck Without You" (2009) and Clay Aiken's "This Is The Night" (2003).

This is such an amazing time to be a Kelly fan. She is absolutely destroying the charts and I am loving it! #1 Hot AC and coming for #1 on Pop radio and #1 overall radio once Adele decides to have herself a damn seat hahaha.

"Katy Perry's biggest charm of all though is the fact that she just wants to be a very very good popstar. There's no holier-than-thou message, off-kilter experimentalism or self-indulgence, just hit after hit after future hit. And it's for this very reason that Katy Perry is fast becoming the world's very best popstar right now." - Digital Spy Twitter | Last.FM | Tumblr
