People have to burn crosses in front of churches to be considered racist these days.

Im actually being serious lol, the n-word means nothing to me, i have never said it or had intention to say it either. Actually plenty of slurs mean nothing to me.
I think one my previous posts on this thread was the first time i typed it.

"I'm so sick of reading about this dumb stupid N - - - - - Whitney Houston"

And he stands by what he said minus saying the n-word? Really? That's just disrespectful and rude and the racial slur just intensifies it. He deserves that suspension. I can sort of understand the n-word in certain contexts, but that is just to offend, and using that word to offend someone is not okay by any means.

As far as "not hearing white people say it" goes.
Sure, they don't say it out in REAL life but this is where the social networking comes in....
http://tinyurl.com/27src7u
(There's a fair share of white people in there too)
And there was also the thread I plugged in earlier......

Not even shading anyone in particular, but I'm convinced if you put a green wig and cute pumps on an inanimate object and gave it one Top 40 Dr. Luke or RedOne single, you will see threads praising and stanning for it, comparing it to Michael Jackson and how they're slayed by its good personality

It's so stale to me, honestly. I have no interest in this "debate." If you're not black, do not refer to a black person by any variation of the N-word if you don't want trouble, period. It's not difficult, though some people insist on making it difficult.
|
I agree and disagree. I think it's socially unacceptable, and weird.
Although I know people who call everyonr a nigg@, myself included. A contradiction at it's finest, tbh.
Also, for anyone that studies black history in college, do you know if nigg@/er has anything to do with the term of Ethiopian royalty, negus?

I've never uttered the word in the my life, but if other black people want to use it, it honestly doesn't bother me. It's the same thing with the F-word. I've never used it in my life even once, and I have no desire to use it. But if gay people want to use the word as reclamation, who am I, as a straight woman, to tell them that it's unacceptable? Idk I just can't be bothered.
As for the origin, I'm pretty sure it derives from the latin word for "dark-skinned." It wasn't a pejorative until the slave trade kicked up.

Nigg@ has become a term of endearment, along w/ bitch, ho, f@g, etc. It's a double standard, plain and simple.
Also, all of these word can be used in a negative sense, as shown in this.

Nigg(a) and Nigg(er) have two different meanings. Sometime in the 80s, black youth took it upon themselves to take power out of the word by using it as a form of "brother". The thing is like most slang the (er) was dropped and (a) was used instead meaning when racists said it you knew what they meant because that (er) was "ER" and very well emphasized on.
The same thing can be said about the word fa(g) vs ***(got) which have the same meaning but obviously it would be more offensive if a straight man or a homophobic woman called you the word versus a gay friend or your close pals.
Regardless of how you feel, the ****ing word has a negative meaning, there is no debate there. This is a word that was shouted out during a MANHUNT with guns and nooses right before they shot and hung black people FOR NO REASON other than fun, like it was a sport or something.
See this: They are CELEBRATING hanging people, learn something.

Right.
Having black friends shouldn't be an excuse for ignorance, tbh.

It is VERY derogatory towards African-Americans. Just like the "F" word towards gays.
