Adele's decision to flip the bird when her acceptance speech was cut off during the Brit Awards was a perfectly appropriate reaction -- just ask Lily Allen.

"I'd rather hear Adele's acceptance speech," Allen tweeted. "I can't say I'm surprised. It was like the music industry's attitude to women played out as a metaphor."

The British pop singer wasn't the only one offended by the industry, Adele wasn't exactly happy with the people in charge.

"I was about to thank the British public for their support and they cut me off," the singer said after the show. "And I'm sorry if I offended anyone. But the suits offended me, so thank you very much for all of your support."

Adele took home awards for British Album of The Year and Best British Female Artist.

I can't believe how much this has been blown out of proportion.... I work in TV and if you get told to cut, you cut. The fact it was Adele was unfortunate, but the show was running late, there are bigger things to worry about.

Unless all the females that won that night got their acceptance speeches cut off while the males were allowed to go on uninterrupted, I fail to see how this was sexist. Lily says the dumbest **** sometimes.

yeah it was rude to cut her off, & they could of given her another 30 seconds to finish her speech, but there is nothing sexist in that at all.

Well, Emeli Sande didn't even get a speech, so Adele wasn't the only one who received terrible treatment from the Brits.

I don't believe it was sexism, but I do find the Brits to be very unorganized. Yeah, it's TV and there is time constraint, so why did Blur get a 55-minute speech, yet the biggest artist of the year who won the biggest award of the night & this year's Brit's Critics Choice winner were not allowed proper speeches (or in Emeli's case - any speech at all)? It should be more organized like the Grammys where the time is counting down on the teleprompter and when the music comes on, it's time for the winner to finish up his or her speech. None of this would have happened if the Brits were more organized.
