Adam Lambert to Headline with QUEEN (Press Release)
It had been rumoured around 3-4 weeks ago but it has now been confirmed by Sonisphere Festival and by Adam himself.

With a quarter of a century having since passed, rock legends QUEEN are to return to play a second concert at the venue that provided them with the setting for one of their biggest and most historic concerts.
QUEEN’s Brian May and Roger Taylor have confirmed the band will headline the second day of SONISPHERE appearing on the APOLLO stage on Saturday July 7. KNEBWORTH was the setting for QUEEN’s final concert with Freddie Mercury in August 1986.
May and Taylor also confirmed that for this very special event they will be joined by US singer-songwriter ADAM LAMBERT.
The potent chemistry between QUEEN and Lambert broke the surface when at the invitation of Brian May and Roger Taylor, Lambert joined them for the closing showcase at the recent MTV Europe Awards where QUEEN were present to collect their Global Icon award.
Says Brian May: “Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy. It’s a worthy challenge for us, and I’m sure Adam would meet with Freddie’s approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush.” http://sonisphere.co.uk/news/queen-adam-lambert/
Here's a picture of Queen's final concert with Freddie at the same festival in Knebworth.
A more recent picture of the place:
Adam Lambert @adamlambert As many suspected, I can finally confirm: I have been invited by Queen to sing one very special concert! Sonisphere at Knebworth July 7th! Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could. Gonna be a surreal night!
Actually, he's playing on the same day as evanescence, so I Think There will be no problem
Yeah I thought so too. I am fan of Evanescence and I've seen a couple of festivals where they weren't too well received because they were opening for bigger bands. But it's not like this is being marketed as "Queen" but it clearly says "Queen with Adam Lambert" so anyone that buys tickets know what they're up for.
I can NOT wait for Adam to perform "Don't Stop Me Now", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Radio Gaga", "Another One Bites the Dust", "I Want it All" and "Under Pressure"
Adam sang at a rock festival in Moscow this summer and it went fine. Adam will adapt his performance for the audience he is singing for. He can sing pop, but he can also sing rock really well. It will be fine, I believe.
I mentioned it earlier but edited out cause OP was too long. Queen's performance at Knebworth in 1986 was featured in the posthumous video for "The Show Must Go On"
@Break Free I am under the idea because of your avatar that you're a Queen fan too. Is this like your dream come true? :P
I would much rather Adam's album, but I've been wanting Adam to sing Queen songs forever and he's going to be singing a full set. There are rumors that this will be shown on tv in the UK, so at least there will be video's. Then in August, Adam is doing a festival in Japan with Rihanna and others. If Adam can't break into the UK this era, I don't know what will.

But girl we are getting BOTH. His album and his performance with Queen that could turn into the best performance of his career. He described it as a "milestone". Also Metallica's set from last year was properly recorded, this will be too I'm sure
Lambert adds: “I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of sharing the stage for a full set is so beautifully surreal. I'm honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory. He's a personal hero of mine and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know the evening will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band I know magic will be on display.”

On what will undoubtedly rate as one of this summer’s most highly anticipated and emotionally charged concerts Queen’s Roger Taylor says: "I remember Knebworth as being the most incredible gig, with the most amazing audience and the sound on stage was utterly perfect. It was a fitting last stand before a live audience for Freddie. It will be a real challenge to complete the circle by returning with Adam."
According to Roger Taylor, there will be a few warm up shows in Moscow. He didn't give any further details.
Also, the admin on the official Queen site, said this about the Moscow shows:
Quote:
"I don't know the names or exact dates and times, but one is a festival style show and the other smaller club/theatre gig. More details as and when we hope!"
Complete speculation, might not be true, but Maxidrom in Moscow of which Adam played last year on his own, takes place in June. So that might/maybe the festival show.
"It's like a song. Now, I can hold a note for a long time. - Actually, I can hold a note forever. - But eventually, that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after and the one after that. That's what makes it music."
