Katheryn Elizabeth "Katy" Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known by her stage name Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Perry grew up around gospel music. During her first year of high school, she pursued a music career as Katy Hudson, releasing her first studio album, called Katy Hudson, which failed to chart. After signing with Capitol Music Group in 2007, she released of her first mainstream album, One of the Boys in 2008, which spawned three Billboard Hot 100 top-ten songs—"I Kissed A Girl", "Hot n Cold" and "Waking Up In Vegas". In 2010, Perry released her third studio album, Teenage Dream (2010), which topped the Billboard 200 chart, and spawned five number one singles—"California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework", "E.T." and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)". Teenage Dream became the first and so far only album (after Michael Jackson's Bad)—to do so, and Perry became the first female in history to achieve this milestone. She embarked on the California Dreams Tour, which grossed nearly $60 million worldwide. Perry re-released the album under the name of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection on March 26, 2012, and the re-release has already spawned the number-one single "Part of Me" and top two single "Wide Awake".

Russell Brand And Katy Perry's Divorce Pisses Off The Hindu Community!

Last week, we were VERY sad to hear that Russell Brand filed for divorce from Katy Perry due to irreconcilable differences.
Then, we learned that Katy actually asked Russell to file for divorce instead of her…so she wouldn't piss off her evangelical Christian parents.
We're not sure exactly how her parents took it, but we know a group of people who are NOT taking the divorce well - the Hindus!
Here's what Hindu statesman Rajan Zed had to say about it:

We agree that marriage should be taken seriously, but we truly believe they thought they'd be spending the rest of their lives together when they got married! Unfortunately, things don't always work out as planned.

I can see why the Hindus are upset, I mean Katy and Russell did very publicly end up sullying the sacred bond of Hindu marriage.

However, it's not their fault. They genuinely believed that they would be together forever.

I still think that it's because Russell may have fell off the wagon, but I do agree that the stark contrast between Katy's success and Russell success didn't go unnoticed by both parties.

In mid-July, halfway through Katy's tour.

I feel like it had gone sour sometime around the tour's beginning. I don't think Russell could keep up with all the dates she was doing
