In the lead up to TTT, the "after a huge era" argument was one of the reasons for TTT being a success.

If the general public was sick of Rihanna, WFL wouldn't have smashed so hard, especially since it was released while Cheers was still in the top 10. It's the music not her, TTT is pretty urban and I can see why pop fans aren't feeling it, Loud was more appealing to them.

Doesn't everyone on here say that it's the urban audience who buys albums? And now Rihanna releases an urban album and the reason its underperforming is because "pop fans aren't feeling it".

This is a mess. The album is urban, yet the only songs anyone has heard are dance-pop/house, and the only urban song to see decent success is the one that is an interlude on the actual album.

The difference is Rihanna doesn't have a big urban fanbase, the majority of her fans listen to pop. Just look at the numbers and how well her pop/dance songs have done compared to her more urban songs. She has tried but failed to get the urban audience buy her albums.

Even if she releases an Urban influence album she still is a pop artist and won't be as successful on Urban compared to a full urban artist(albums sales)
