I also love rock Shakira because you can hear more of her amazing rock voice, with dance shakira, you dont hear much "singing" songs and thats why people can always misconceive about her voice (hips don't lie, waka waka etc)

I definitely love the pop-rock aspect more, but I love both of course.
Sale el Sol is my favorite album of her's. Yes, I know I need to listen to more of her older songs.

I've listened to Sale el Sol, She Wolf, Laundry Service, and Oral Fixation Vol 2 in full. The others I haven't/only have one track from the album.

this. i LOVE Pies Descalzos, Donde Estan Los Ladrones, MTV Unplugged, heck even her Remixes album was good. MTV Live was ok. On Fijacion Oral, i only dislike "La Tortura" (i know, everyone loves that one). i completely dislike all her English songs except "Underneath Your Clothes" & "Beautiful Liar" - the song she did with Beyonce. Sale El Sol is what made me like her "new" music again. cause all that dance-pop stuff (with the exception of "Las De La Intuicion")...de Shakira, no me gusta!
imo, Donde Estan Los Ladrones was/is flawless from start to finish. i really wish she stuck to that sound. and to be honest, i'm happy + surprised to find people outside of my friends who agree with me on this :O. just about everyone else (who i've discussed Shakira's music with) likes dance-pop/sex appeal Shakira and either don't care or have NO IDEA about her older music. i don't have a problem with the folks who like her dance stuff better, i just wish her older music got some recognition because it's where her roots/true art is.
i stan for waaay too many people to list. but: Lauryn Hill, Nas, Tupac, Michael Jackson, Selena Quintanilla Perez, Stacie Orrico, Nate Dogg, The Cardigans, & Adele are my absolute faves!

Oh well, you ahven't listened to "Fijacion oral" - arguably her best album (or donde estan los ladrones)
Not on any album: despedida, hay amores
Fijacion Oral: Dia Especial, No, Las De La Intuicion, Lo Imprescindible, la Pared, dia De enero and Escondite ingles are favorites. the other tracks are very good too..
Those above are some of her best work.

Wow. ALL of her english sonsg except those? I believe that she has some masterpieces in English: Dreams for Plans, Your Embrace, Don't Bother, Mon Amour and The One.
Other songs are quiet good too, like Illegal, Something, She Wolf, Men In This Town, Ready For Teh Good TImes, Fool.
I know her SPanish music is better, but some ENglish ones are great.
I'm glad actually that she moved away from the DELL sound. Because if she kept going like that, she would've become very repetitive and boring and would've been a has-been a long time ago. I like that she always explores new sounds, but no matter what she does, th emusic is always reminiscent of a consistent style. For example, she doesn't do straight out dance, she always does it with a bit of multicultural flavor (Why Wait, Long Time, etc)

^ Thanks for the list of tunes, I'll check it out tomorrow (this thread inspired me to listen to OFVol2 the rest of the night haha).
I agree with you, too. I like her sexiness (although might be because I'm straight lol), but she does it well with songs like Long Time. People have their own personal tastes, though. I personally don't really notice a preference of which language because I love both OFVol2 + SeS.

No problem. I find that with Shakira, it doesn't even amtter that I can't understand what she's saying in Spanish. Her voice and the music enchants me too mcuh!
Of course, now I understand her spanish lyris fully, but when i just started listening to her i spoke no spanish but the sonsg were so damn catchy! definitely check those out, you will fall in love

My favourite songs from her come from both groups but Whenever, Wherever and Hips Don't Lie are everything so I'll choose Dance-Pop Shakira

En Barranquilla se baila asi!
I like Shakira in all shapes and forms. You cannot choose just one side. Sometimes, at the club I want to pop it to "Hips Don't Lie", "She Wolf" and even "Waka Waka", but sometimes I want to be on my own and listen to "Devocion", "Sale El Sol" or all of Fijacion Oral Vol. 1.

to be honest, i stopped listening to her English music after Oral Fixation vol. 2. i didn't like any of her English songs besides that one on Laundry Service. and OF2, i don't like that album at all. i bought it and was super stoked because i LOVED Fijacion Oral. but was sadly disappointed with OF2. and after She Wolf (the single) came out i didn't even bother to get that album. much less hear it. maybe i'm over-reacting a bit. but i loved Shakira for being the different pop girl. she was the only pop-rock Latin chick (besides Soraya) who wrote her own songs and the only major one after Alejandra Guzman. her pop-dance stuff is mixed music but it's too generic for me. but i can see what you mean about her DELL sound becoming repetitive tho, since Pies had a few same sounding tracks (Vuleve & Pies Descalzos). but i doubt she would have become boring or a has been. "Ojos Asi" is on DELL as are some of her rockier tracks (Si Te Vas, Inevitable). and no one has replaced her in the Latin pop-rock genre. it's her unofficial throne. not even La Oreja De Van Gogh, Belinda, or Dulce Maria have been able to knock her off. on the dance pop however, she has a lot more competition. but i'll give her credit for branching out of her comfort zone and still succeed .
i'll check out the songs you recommended tho. so thanks! i would hate to miss out on other good Shakira tracks!

Definitelt listen to those songs. Don't bother is TRULY a masterpiece , so is dreams for plans. I guess FO1 is more alternative/rock while OF2 is more organic. But OF2 has some gems.
As for SW the album- definitely listen to "mon amour"- if you liked si te vas you'll love MA.
