Pro Wrestling | WWE, TNA, ROH Discussions
Yes before we start discussing, anyone rudely come in and says "wrestling is fake" WELL DUH, we all f*cking know that, so don't waste your time and our time saying "wrestling is fake."
Anyone else here watch pro wrestling? I'm a straight male and I love pro wrestling ever since I was a kid. It isn't as good it was when I was younger but I still tolerate it and have quite a few new favorite wrestlers from alot of different companies; not just from the main big one in WWE. I love Mixed Martial Arts too.
Who's your fave? Favorite feud? Favorite matches, etc?
Growing up my favorites were The Rock, The Undertaker, Steve Austin ( who was a bit overrated at the time; but i still really liked him) and Kurt Angle. I also loved Bret Hart; who's the best technical wrestler in his prime. Oh, and also loved Chris Benoit's work in the ring. (IDC how much WWE tries to erase it; his match when he won the world title is one of my favs) His personal life? Not so much.
My favorite feud has to be the The Rock/Austin feud. one of the best feuds ever. and i loved the match at WM17.
My current favorite wrestler of the new generation is CM Punk. I have loved this guys work since 2006 when he come from ROH. I have heard about him via forums and I had to check out his work from his independent scene, seeing him on the top right now is just incredible. Never would have guessed he would become 5 time world champ in the WWE.. Other new favorites include Bryan Danielson ( D Bryan), AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Austin Aries.
So yeah, thats my brief history of wrestling..Anyone else?

I use to watch it religiously in 6th and 7th grade and I saw it Live twice in Madison square garden when I use to live in N.Y. but I quickly grew out of it because WWE started to go downhill in quality, plus that **** is fake as ****.

CM Punk is definitely the best in the business today, not just on the microphone but in the ring as well. Many can do one or the other, yet he excels in both. Its so refreshing to have someone like him in the spotlight. I've been watching it for 12 years now, been through the good and the bad. Can't say I've loved it for all 12 years, but I'm there every Monday night glued to my TV and hope it stays like that for years.

WWE's scripted but they REALLY get hurt. There was this incidence when a wrestler had to take break because of a major injury. Forgot his name though.

I actually used to be obsessed when I was around 10-14. But now I'm just not that into it anymore.
My favorites are The Rock, Triple H and I also used to like Carlito for his puffy hair

I started watching 7 years ago. For some reason I stopped mid-2008 but started again in 2009. Been to 3 live shows: House show in 2006, Raw TV Show in 2007 and the Raw directly after Wrestlemania 25. For some reason, I cried during the national anthem.
CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, The Rock, Triple H, HBK, The Undertaker are some of my fave superstars. I like a majority of the current divas but loved the old 2004-2007 crop. Melina, Mickie James, Candice Michelle, Trish, Lita, Beth & Victoria were the best.
I can't get into MMA despite how "real" it is compared to WWE. Bores me too much. Jeff Jarett made a great comment on the "wrestling is fake" people. I can't remember it right now but it basically summed up mine and alot of other fans opinion on it: Either you get it or you don't. There's no explaining to either sides on why you watch or why you don't, They won't care lol.

I stopped watching it when I was five, but then there are some 15-16 year olds in my school who still watches and believes it's real

I don't get why people get on the WWE for being 'fake'. They advertise themselves as sports entertainment. Their focus is to entertain the people with the storylines and superstars. To Vince, the ability to wrestle isn't the main thing they look for when hiring people.

I got into MMA/UFC two years ago. And quite honestly its way more boring then pro wrestling, imo. The only time I get excited for a UFC event is when their is a big match like Rampage vs Jon Jones, or Lesnar vs Ovreem.
I guess you missed my beginning intro of the thread...:sip: I don't care if its "fake." The injuries are real. The stories/feuds are intriguing enough for me. And if theirs one match I can point you one to why I love wrestling, it'd be the The Undertaker/Shawn Michaels match at WM26

Was it Steve Austin? He had to quit wrestling because he broke his neck in the middle of the ring.
Kurt Angle wrestled with a freaking broken neck most of the time lol.He won the gold medal with one...
Yeah wrestling is predetermined but the injuries from wrestlers during the matches are real. Mick Foley had to get alot of stiches because of the flaming table spot. which was awesome, lol.

And my biggest pet peeve when it comes to discussing wrestling with people who act like, for example, Quiqui is that they always fall back on the tried-and-true crutch that wrestling is "fake". Sorry, but the only thing that really makes the action of wrestling so "fake" is that the winners and losers are pre-determined.The action in the ring itself is about as fake as MMA, which, of course, is to say that it's not. Obviously, MMA is "more real", but there are certain wrestling promotions where the fists and kicks being landed are all too real. And besides, unless you're John Cena, you cannot learn to take a hit or a move in the ring without it hurting at least somewhat. Would real-life injuries occur in the ring if the action was as pre-determined as the storylines? Of course not. God, that argument in general is just so ****ing stupid and I can't believe that it's a serious argument being made in 2011!
Sorry, went off on a little tangent there. The wrestling fan in me couldn't help itself.

I welcome the rain
And as you walk the final top
They will start to dark my past
Nothing counting in this world
See the valley turn to darkness on your way
