I had the weirdest conversation with someone from London the other day, she called the statue of liberty... "The Green Lady" Here in US they say that the Statute stands as a symbol of liberty for the rest of the world, I didn't know there were people who didn't know who she was..

With all of the propaganda that there is within a country about another, and since ATRL is so international, I would like to see what people in other countries think about certain things

Now, the next subject will be totally up to you guys but the first one, since I live in the US...

So what if it's more populated? I'm from the UK and I'm just glad that I get free health care and have a government which don't have morons like Sarah Palin. The American culture is very backwards. The fact the richest country in the world requires you to sell your house and your car to get a heart operation is a little worrying, not to mention they've only just started to legalise gay MARRIAGE lol. They also still have the death penalty in some states, which in my opinion is very mid-evil.

In history we would learn how the US was meant to be the land of freedom and oppourtunity but actually went against this punishing people if they were black many years ago, not giving women equal rights and punishing people for believing in communism. They were portrayed as bad and although I agree to an extent that they have been very hypocritical in the past I still love the USA and want to live in New York one day even if it's just a few years.

This kind of attitude is what turns a lot of people off towards the US. It isn't the largest country in the world, it isn't the most powerful country in the world, it isn't the most culturally rich country in the world.

What it is, is a melting pot of immigrants who have decided they are the chosen few and develop a holier than thou attitude towards other countries. It is a country that makes up reasons to invade other countries and has decided to police the world, it is a country notorious for it's ignorance and racism and notorious for being ignorant towards other cultures, odd seeing as the very few people native to the US are treated horifically, that land is their culture and the culture Americans have given themselves come from any world cultures which many do not respect. It is seen as superficial, full of idiots and full of ignorance. The George Bushes and Paris Hiltons are what the US is judged on, not to mention the wars.

As with anywhere in the world, there are idiots and geniuses, there are ignorant bigots and wonderful open minded people. It is just that the ignorant idiots are those who either come to power or are subjected to the world media.

I have lived in the states, I spend a lot of time there, some of my best friends and my boyfriend live there, I'm planning to move there, I love a lot of things about it but I have been all over the world and nowhere else have I encountered as much ignorance and racism as the US.

While Canada is 3 times bigger then the US, and less people is actually a good thing, you can have the over-populated cities.

A lot of culture comes from the united states, i mean in the music department alone.. Our music is all over the world

the king and queen of pop are from the united states

what other country can you say has music that is that vast....

What she meant is that the US doesn't have its own inherit culture. The culture the US is projecting now is a conglomerate of all cultures from the immigrants who influenced US's way of living in general.
