JPop is amazing, Koda Kumi, Namie, Perfume, m-flo, Yuya MatsuJESUS (!!!), Yulia, etc.
Yass you def have to go beyond the idol scene to be able to get into the good stuff(like Jasmine,Meisa,etc). Honestly a lot of the flops there **** on the mainstream jpop acts.

My sister, who lives in japan, actually went into a AKB48 store. When she told me that, I was completely shocked they had THEIR OWN STORE.

& I agree, the flops there deliver the best quality (ICONIQ, Meisa , Crystal, etc)
Beginner, Everyday, & Heavy Rotation are the only AKB48 songs I find tolerable. I despise them.
