And we won't have good music to play 20 years from now? Bad Romance? Dance in the Dark? Speechless? Paparazzi? Scheisse? Etc?

I find this whole situation funny, really.
Didn't people in the industry say the same thing about Madonna when she first came out?
You know how to whistle, don't you?
Just put your lips together, baby, and blow;;

Honestly, I'd rather watch paint dry than have to go through another media frenzy over this.

Oasis is really NOT that big in the United States. They had a good deal of success in their peak and people respect them, but to the general public they're not that important. People never talk about them on a day to day basis.

I saw no lies. He's a smart guy. Lady Gaga fans, you're really wasting your time being here.
If you didn't think it had a ounce of potential to become true, you wouldn't be here pissed off.

But Swag, let's be honest, if I asked 20 random people on the street who Oasis is, they would be dumbfounded

I don't think it's going to be true. If this was a thread about Madonna when she was 4 years into her career, you'd be just as dogmatic, don't even lie.
Madonna needs to realize her time of being on top is over. Let the contemporaries battle it out. It's over.
This is not your grave, but you are welcome in it.

Noel Gallagher is known as one of the biggest trolls & general ****wits in the music industry. He and his brother say dumb **** like that for attention on a weekly basis.
"But he said something mean about a singer I don't like, so he's a legend of rock music!!!"

This is embarrassing tbh
It's freaking Noel Gallagher for god's sake
If you would ask 20 random people on the street who Leonard Cohen is they would probably be dumbfounded yet that doesn't take away that he is one of the most critically acclaimed songwriters and musicians of the past decades

Why is it that the older people become, the less they respect today's music? I don't understand how someone can claim that music used to be better - it's all subjective. And seriously, Gaga has her share of "decent f***ing music" in her discography.
|
Based on his comments it sounds like he's talking about TFM....... He needs to go listen to BTW.

I honestly don't get why Madonna has to keep this all going, either. Yes, I know it probably attracts attention and money for her, but so the hell what? Is it really a crime to be inspired by someone? Madonna herself certainly had idols to look up to and to model herself after in some way.
The worst part about all this is that this is between my two favorite artists of all time.
|
Especially when Gaga has done blatant homage to Ace of Base, Michael Jackson and David Bowie. Where was the outrage when Gaga was using David Bowie's trademark lightning bolt during the Just Dance days? Why did no one care when Gaga did a blatant tribute to MJ at the end of BTW? Why was there a bigger controversy about BTW/EY comparisons when Alejandro held a lot more similarities to Don't Turn Around than the BTW/EY did? Gaga has done such blatant things with other artists and celebrities and she openly admits and says when she does it. She said she was influenced by the Ace of Base when writing Alejandro, she said she intentionally paid homage to Madonna during Alejandro, She corrected people when people thought the lightning bolt was her idea, and she has often times cited Princess Diana, Andy Warhol, Grace Jones, etc. when describing looks she's going for.

From an American perspective, both Coldplay and Linkin Park are bigger than Oasis. I'm not even kidding.
.
Just as an informal survey, I asked my brother just now "have you ever heard of Oasis?"
"Oasis? Uh...I might have, I don't know."

|
Yeah Linkin Park and Coldplay are definetly bigger in the US than Oasis, I'd also throw in The Killers.

You're acting like they are just as well known as Madonna
Did I ever say that their popularity takes away from their musical integrity? No. So stop putting words in my mouth, THAT'S embarrassing.
I was simply commenting on their """superstar""" status

Because Gaga gives credit to where credit is due
She has said those people are huge influences. And exactly, it's a homage, a way of respect. The Michael Jackson glove at the end of BTW wasnt with the intent to rip anyone off

"It's over" Madonna has been making music for 30+years and is still touring very successfully.... it's not over.
