You just blatantly disregard the fact that Poker Face, Just Dance, and Bad Romance were supreme mega smashes that shaped the pop music scene for over a year, and that Born This Way was a cultural phenomenon that had everyone proclaiming they were born this way?

You are out of your mind right now saying that none of those songs had universal appeal, they would not have been successful and had cultural impact had they not.

No one is saying that they weren't popular songs (and Bad Romance/Edge of Glory are pop masterpieces IMHO).

However they, and other Gaga songs, don't have the same appeal across generations as Adele's biggest hits do. It's just undeniable. Be honest with yourself, who are older buyers more likely to purchase an album from, Gaga or Adele? Whose music is more likely to transcend different genres and appeal to them all? I am aware that Gaga has an avid and large fan base who worship her every move but that doesn't mean she is the most popular artist among the general public.

I give Gaga immense credit for what she has done but she will not have the same musical impact as Adele.
