ATRL - Personal Countdown: The Euphonic Weekly by J03Y April 18, 2013 (for 4/22/13)

so i've had this weekly top 30 thing going on since 2010, and i've shown it to a few people, but this is the first time i'm actually making it public so let's see how it does

i'm a mainstream person, and i'm not ashamed to admit it. mainstream music is like crack for me, i love it. but every once in a while i do get addicted to something of good quality, i wish i could be making this countdown in the early 2000s i would've wanted to know how well my favorite rock bands would've done when they released my favorite songs by them.

i digress tho lol

SYSTEM OF FACTORING MY FAVORITE SONGS OF THE WEEK:

1) Playlist - I first take the positions i've created based on how well a song's performance was on the playlist i've created for the chart tracking on my iPod.
2) Last.fm Scrobbles - i then add in points of how many times i listened to certain songs via my Last.fm radio.
3) Favor Factor - i then give a bit of an extra boost if i like a certain song for that week just a bit more than the position it's given.

EXCEPTION(S):
(a) must be a current official/promotional single released or reached public awareness in the last 12 months
(b) album tracks can only chart around 5-6 weeks surrounding the album's release. after that, it doesn't matter if it's doing well among other songs, it will not be charted past week 6.

if anyone has suggestions for songs you think should make the list (but don't go too far with your suggestions please -___-), please do request that i look at some. my list could use some diversity

the only rule i really have is that you request a single or song that was recently released, at least up to 6 months old in official release. but it can be anything other than mainstream you may suggest.

WEEKEND UPDATE:

Rihanna's 'Where Have You Been' increases this week, due to not only a kickass American Idol performance, but also for my recent discovery of the remixes. the Hector Fonseca remix has assisted the song in keeping the top spot. also, the recent launch to #4 on iTunes helped as well. i celebrated by listening to the song all day non-stop

in other news, while 'Rumour Has It' drastically drops out of the top ten, Adele's 'Set Fire To The Rain' shoots straight to #2, a new record for Adele on the countdown as the highest peak ever attained for a song by the artist. 'Rolling In The Deep' held that record for a year (#3) until RHI tied.

while Gotye falls to #3, the alternative artist might just be rising back to the second slot next week, given i have on my iPhone an original version of the song and two remixes (Tiesto remix and a DJ Mike D radio remix). at this moment the DJ Mike D remix has brought up appeal and play counts very high for the song. but time will tell, i suppose

the countdown sees many new entries, Katy Perry's 'Wide Awake' being one of them. the top ten will be seeing newbies Grouplove and their single 'Tongue Tied' which launched to #2 in my main playlist for a day or two.

Florence + The Machine's 'Shake It Out' returns after a run of 6 weeks and then moot. and then to wrap the new entries is Karmin's return with 'Brokenhearted'. i don't want to confirm this yet, because there may or may not be a final new entry.

expect the new weekly update on Sunday guys, it's going to be labeled for the week of Monday 28th. no reason other than to show the start of a new week. it makes sense in my head
