I mean the Hot 100 Song Award is more understandable then Top Digital Song X_X.
RITD outsold PRA and yes RITD has been a crossover hit that PRA never was.
Pretty sure they are butt hurt that Adele didnt show up

I'm pretty sure that in December Billboard had announced that PRA was both digital single and Hot 100 song of the year over RITD. I know at this point RITD is ahead of it in the digital markers and chartwise (which made no sense, since RITD charted on rock, jazz and latin stations and possibly even country cuz you faves could never) but in December that wasn't the case (even with RITD played on all stations everywhere at some point last year).
I trust these awards are based off the end-of-year numbers, which means RITD could be competing with fun. and Gotye next year.

No. RITD was the top digital song of 2011 and was the #1 song of that year.
The award show has a different tracking period than year-end (I believe February 2011 - February 2012 for the award show, and December 2010 - December 2011 for year-end), so that's why PRA came out on top over RITD.

"PRA" has been a close second to Adele since they both began dominating. And the awards are caculated between March 1, 2011 - February 29, 2012, so both of their chart life were accounted for.
