This. She's such a fun, goofy person, it's hard to take her seriously when she's acting sexy, and that honestly might have had to do with them not releasing Dressing Up as a single. But she can photograph sexy for sure.

This also probably is the problem when she's singing, she doesn't really sing softly, it's always full, which isn't bad, but it just means she can't do the sensual songs as well. That's why she doesn't release music like that much... can you imagine her doing I'm a Slave 4 U?

I think she sounded sexy on ET. But I see what you mean. I don't think she's every really tried to take it there. Almost all of her material isn't sexual. But that's not to say she can't serve sex.

She isn't passive, sweet sexy like Britney, or raunchy, overt sexy like Rihanna but more of a confident, strong sexy. She's in charge, not the other way around.

She pulled off sexy in a less overt way in E.T. and Teenage Dream.
Her voice is naturally 'goofy' (? not the right word) though, and she tries too hard, so she usually sounds ridiculous when she tries to be sexy.
