Top Social Artist: Meet the Billboard Music Awards Finalists
Latin superstar Shakira also proves a she-devil on Twitter: with more than 15.5 million followers monitoring her every move, she's become the fifth most popular celeb on social-media outlets.
Rihanna, meanwhile, may be one of our most tech-savvy stars. The release of her UNLOCKED app garnered the Caribbean queen over 750,000 new Facebook friends and a million-plus additional Twitter fans, and scored her a "Best Use of Social Media" win at the 2011 Creative Media Awards.
Rihanna is still only the second most popular person on Facebook -- after Eminem. The righteous rap icon has ruled the house that Mark Zuckerberg built since 2010. Looking at the numbers across all social media, however, Marshall Mathers must ultimately bow to Lady Gaga and Queen Rihanna. Their followings on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube add up to a combined total of over 6 billion, over 3 billion each (they have nearly double Eminem's YouTube views and Twitter fans), making them the most watched, followed, and liked performers in the entire mediasphere.
To see who wins Top Social Artist, tune in to the Billboard Music Awards, airing live May 20 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas! In the poll below, vote for who you think should win.
