she might not be able to repeat the same success but it doesn't mean she will fade away, she's different it's not just about selling albums, she's also selling millions of songs around the world, her music videos on youtube get hundreds of millions views, her fan base is increasing on facebook and twitter, she's almost 30M likes on facebook, she has it all and I believe she will keep going.
“I’m becoming a little more comfortable in front of the camera. I wasn’t used to it before. I was thrown into a new lifestyle and everything I do is kind of filmed or photographed. I’m a private guy. I like to keep to myself. I’m shy, maybe. It gets kind of tricky for me but, I’m beginning to find the fun in it. I don’t take myself too seriously so if I’m front of the camera, that’s what you’re going to get, me clowning around."(Bruno Mars)

21 is an opportunity for Adele to be one of the greats. However, we'll see what she does with the opportunity...she might not want it.

I’ll probably wake up a little sad but then I’ll get up and let go of it all instead because really it’s not worth it.

21 is only an incidental success. I doubt she'd be lucky again with the next album.

Anyone who think she's selling less than a million copies of her next album in the first week is kidding themselves.

She won't repeat the success of '21', but you can tell she won't fade away...look at the success of '19' that also sold ridiculously well when it was first out!! That should be proof enough, but i also think '21'will make her next album garner massive hype!

Her next album will have debut sales over over 500k to a million you can bet that. I think she will still sell if she can top this album, there will be a lot of hype surrounding it.

I think it takes a lot to make these kind of pinnacles of success and just be a "fad." This is her peak, certainly, but she will likely still be very successful. Adele's likely here to stay.

No but I fully expect the girls to declare her 'over' when her next album doesn't sell 20+ million copies.

Nor anyone else in the music industry , at least in the next 20 years .
I think she'd last as an album seller . maybe she's another Norah Jones , well , lets wait and see .

She won't have the same success she had with 21 but she pulled off an historical success just like Alanis, Shania, Britney and Norah did before her. For that alone, she's set for life.

Something that people forget, especially when it comes to predicting first week sales for her next album: 21 went #1 and sold 350k+ in its first week. This is important because that was months before "Rolling in the Deep" became a megasmash. Imagine what her first week sales are going to be like after three #1 singles and the biggest selling album in a long, long, LONG time.
I mean, 21 is going to reach diamond in the US before too long. A diamond-selling album? In two years? IN THIS MUSIC CLIMATE? And unlike some artists who are primarily album sellers, Adele had three #1 hits off of 21, and let's not forget about another song that reached the top 20 despite everyone and their mother already owning the album.
If this is a fad, then this is, arguably, the biggest fad in the history of music.
Song of the Moment
Queens of the Stone Age - Smooth Sailing
I'm burning bridges
I destroy the mirage
Oh, visions of collisions
****in' bon voyage
It's all smooth sailing from here on out

Saying she's a fad is simply deluded. Since 21 was so successful, her next era will only bring even more anticipation and buildup for a hugely charting album.
If she releases in the late 2012/early 2013 quarter, I can easily see her dethroning whatever album Gaga, Rih, or Katy have on the charts
A lot of pressed monsters still seething over the grammys, I see...
