Backstage before the concert, Carlton divulged more details about her philosophy and journey as an artist. She noted a change in sound over the past few years and said further changes would come with her next album.
“We’re going to do something sort of like a, it’s really an electronic dance-pop record,” Carlton said. “It’s going to be different. I think it’s oddly a natural progression from ‘Rabbits.’ I don’t really know how I can explain that in a way that makes sense, but once I think we start making the tracks, it will make sense. I’m really, really excited.”
She said inspiration for her upcoming album comes both from listening to her college-aged brother’s trippy, euphoric music and reading classical mythology.
The news is a few weeks old, but I wasn't expecting this at all. Rabbits on the Run was one of the best albums of last year. But the question is, is she selling out? Will she record full-on dancepop songs or piano-based songs with dance beats?
"'I Will Be' is a song I have known for a while… From the outside looking in I know that everyone was fighting for Avril to put this on her record but for reasons I will not disclose, Avril, did not... I remember Luke playing this song for me months ago and I was at the point of tears knowing I heard a song that would be the hugest thing ever… I mean, people, be prepared to hear this song at EVERY WEDDING for a LONG time."
She has this amazing unreleased dark dance pop song call Dark Carnival.
oh well, she will never make it big again anyway, sad because Dear California and I Dont Wanna Be a Bride should have been decent hits.
It still won't do anything for her. And why are you so defensive?
Mostly because she's being dragged without any type of music out AT ALL.
In a few months everyone's gonna be here for it and I'm gonna be hella annoyed.
She ***** with literally everything she does (though I'm not a huge fan of her third album).
And who are you to say it won't do anything for her? Now you know why I'm defensive.
