'X Factor' USA Britney, Demi Lovato 'inexperienced for American Idol'
American Idol executive Nigel Lythgoe has admitted that he never would have considered new X Factor judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato for his show.
The singers were officially confirmed to join LA Reid and Simon Cowell on the X Factor panel at the Fox Upfronts in New York yesterday (May 14).
Commenting on the new lineup of his rival show, Lythgoe said that although Spears and Lovato would have an "interesting" rapport with contestants, he didn't consider them to have enough "experience" in the music industry.
"I hadn't ever considered them," he told E! "I always like mentors who have a lot more experience.
"Having said that, these two ladies have had so much personal experience; it'll be interesting. I like someone who's been there and knows the whole gamut of what these kids are going through and help them through."
I think the experience comment was geared more towards Demi.
This comment makes Nigel seem a bit pressed though cause lord knows if Britney came knocking on his door asking to be a judge on Idol he would've jumped on it in a heartbeat.

Probably. Demi being on either of the shows is just so random.

and yeah I definitely agree with Demi not having enough experience. She hasn't even had a hit single (though that is changing with the current single).
Britney Spears is an example of a starlet, who has been on the top of the industry, hit rock bottom, and made a successful comeback. If anyone had "experience" that Nigel is looking for, it would be Britney Spears.
