Silversun Pickups and Tank Debut Top 10, while Adele's 19 Leads All Gainers
For a second consecutive week, the competition gets Blown Away by 19/Arista Nashville Country superstar Carrie Underwood, who tops the HITS Album sales chart with 118k, giving her a two-week total of 385k and counting, and will likely hold there for a few charts. Underwood scores her first-ever second week at #1. Shockingly, no album by Underwood has ever spent more than one week at the top.
That was enough to keep XL/Columbia diva Adele’s 21 from returning to #1 again, but the album was up 34% over Mother’s Day weekend to 103k and a total of 9.1 million.
Mercury Nashville R&B-turned-country crooner Lionel Richie’s Tuskegee moves to #3 with 72k for a total of 752k, making it the biggest release to come out this year.
A pair of EMI entries, Capitol’s Now 42 (#4) and Blue Note’s Norah Jones (#5), round out the Top 5.
Syco/Columbia U.K. boy band One Direction’s Up All Night is at #6, with two newcomers in Dangerbird’s Silversun Pickups (#7) and Atlantic’s Tank (#9) sandwiching former chart-topper, Third Man/Columbia’s Jack White (#8), with Fairfax/Universal Republic’s Gotye (#10) completing the leader board.
Other Top 50 new entries include Interscope’s Keane (#15), Epic’s viral sensations Karmin (#17) and Columbia gospel group Mary Mary (#19).
Republic Nashville’s The Band Perry (#45), Verity’s Marvin Sapp (#49) and RCA Nashville’s Miranda Lambert (#50) all return to the Top 50.
XL/Columbia’s debut Adele album, 19, leads all double-digit gainers, moving #28-22, +45%, followed by Big Machine’s Rascal Flatts (#24-14, +36%), Capitol Nashville/EMI’s Lady Antebellum (#37-26, +34%), Atlantic’s Jason Mraz (#22-16, +23%), 19/RCA’s Kelly Clarkson (#47-37, +23%), Warner Bros. Nashville’s Blake Shelton (#43-36, +16%), YM/CM/Universal Republic’s Nicki Minaj (#17-13, +14%) and RCA’s Whitney Houston The Greatest Hits (#40-33, +10%).
This week’s releases include 19/RCA’s Adam Lambert, Columbia’s Glee Cast Graduation Album and Tenacious D, Sub Pop’s Beach House, Mexican Summer’s Best Coast, Universal Republic’s Lisa Marie Presley and Godsmack, Interscope’s Rye Rye and the digital release of Stun Volume’s Garbage. Columbia’s John Mayer is slated for May 22.

I’ll probably wake up a little sad but then I’ll get up and let go of it all instead because really it’s not worth it.

I'm more concerned with Adam Lambert than John Mayer, although I don't really know how John Mayer's previous albums fared in the first week.
Why be afraid to make an honest mistake?
Demi Lovato. Alex Goot. Avril Lavigne.
Carrie Underwood. Boys Like Girls. Justin Bieber.
Maroon 5. One Direction. Hilary Duff.

This is like 4 all over again. I'm so pleased with Carrie. She really deserves it.
Beyoncé birthed King B who conquered the immortal Sasha Fierce.
