That first season was just unbelievably good. I've watched every single episode out of loyalty to that first season, but it never recaptured the magic.

It's finally so far. Desperate Housewives is over and all of you chose the best moments this series had.

#20 Mary Alice shoots herself
Who doesn't know it? The scene that not only introduced us to Desperate Housewives but also lead to all upcoming mysteries and events. It was the first shocking twist this show had - and it was only on air for two minutes.
This scene would soon become iconic and known by nearly everyone.
Everything about it was fresh, new and funny. Mary Alice telling the story of her life and friends, Martha Huber - the curious dramatic neighbour and the shot.
The pilot itself was pure perfection and this won't be its last scene on this ranking.
Great start The whole sequence is epic; everything from Martha Huber's reaction to the music used. Set the series up brilliantly.

One hell of a scene. Mike finds out Susan has met Zach but didn't tell him. Instead she gave him money and food to live on his own in order to protect her daughter Julie.
He's mad at her for lying about his own son and leaves her.
Teri Hatcher's acting in this scene is flawless and it's one of the few highlights the second season has had!
It was a fascinating introduction to the show and right away defines its satirical tone with Hubert being shocked at Mary Alice's death but happy to keep the blender, which is the whole point blending comedy and drama!

I remember the Susan scene too, running through Wisteria lane with a wedding dress and Mike driving off? Priceless.
