As for success, I can't speak for others, but success doesn't really affect my perception of a song. Success does play a tiny part in me liking a song, though. When you hear it on radio or see it on TV all the time, a song is going to grow on you. I never think of a song like "this sobg reached #1 and sold 5x platinum, therefore it's good", it's more of the song being thrown in my face until I'm forced to like it.

That's not the case with me. If it was I wouldn't like Rated R so much.

Because its dark and edgy.
Basically that's what an album has to be in order to be 'good' on ATRL. A super success, or dark and edgy.
Any album that falls outside of those requirements is often deemed 'trash'. *looks at mixtapes*

I remember how many navy members disliked Rated R when it first leaked but it became "amazing" once the critics started to praise it, it's quite laughable.

Sometimes there are certain life events make you relate more to the songs and for me, Loud came out at the perfect time in my life where everything I did was basically Loud. So it will always be my favorite, not cuz everyone else likes it.

Almost all the tracks on Loud individually ***** on all the tracks on TTT (minus We Found Love & Drunk On Love) TTT is a wanna be Loud

So much tea is being spilled Kinda reminds me of how everyone hated WFL and called it generic but then it got success and now its #1 on the Navy rate

If you like TTT, then OK... But, c'mon stating it's not my favorite 'cause of success well that's some reason I would never use.
It's still:
WFL, WHYB >>>>> any other song on LOUD
But LOUD is a whole package.

You're right.
You can hear some similarities, though, seeing as TTT started off as a Loud re-release.
But then Rihanna decided to mess with perfection and bit off more than she could chew.

Not true. I don't think anyone bases their opinion off the image of an album. Most dark and edgy albums tend to be more personal and just better in quality, musically.
Last night the world was beneath us.

I've stanned for WFL since it premiered on the radio (I even have my posts from the WFL thread saved to back it up) I do remember how much hate it got and how many called it a flop, i'd love to expose some people

There is so much editing she could have done with TTT. Some songs could have been left out for other, better demos.

I remember Ri_Ri_Rock swearing that WFL should have been demoted to a buzz single to 'save face' for the TTT era.
@infinite True, I guess. Idk, I feel like that's the only way the average ATRLer would enjoy an album that underperforms/flops.
