|
Because back in the old days, there was nothing else for them to put on so they just let shows run and they had time to gain an audience. Now, money is what networks want and they want it immediately so if shows fail, they get rid of them quicker.

Second Season for OUAT! No surprise here.
Glad to see Body of Proof got a third season. Dana Delany and Jeri Ryan rock!
Third Season for Nikita! Best news EVER!
Can't wait for 666 Park Avenue. It looks really promising. It's a pity they didn't pick up Americana. Or is there still a chance?

‘Two & A Half Men’ Renewed For Season 10
CBS’ Two And A Half Men has been officially renewed for next season, the veteran comedy’s tenth, after the network has completed a new license fee agreement with series producer Warner Bros. TV. It came after the network closed new one-year deals with stars Ashton Kutcher, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones. CBS’ renewal announcement acknowledges the change at the helm of 2.5 Men for next season, with co-creator/executive producer Lee Aronsohn stepping down. Along with co-creator/showrunner Chuck Lorre, the comedy will be co-run next season by executive producers Don Reo and Jim Patterson. Another Men executive producer, Eddie Gorodetsky, will continue in its dual capacity as executive producer on Two And A Half Men and consulting producer on one of Lorre’s other two CBS comedy series, The Big Bang Theory. Aronsohn will serve as an executive consultant.
In its current ninth season, the first with Kutcher as star, 2.5 Men has averaged 15 million viewers and a 5.2/13 in adults 18-49 in most current ratings to rank as the No.2 comedy on TV in total viewers and third in 18-49. This is the 19th CBS series renewed for next season and the fifth comedy, alongside How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly and The Big Bang Theory. For my take on the CBS’ bubble series awaiting renewal, you can read my CBS update from last night.

New NBC Series ‘Infamous’ To Recast Role
Another role on a newly picked up series, NBC’s drama Infamous, will be recast. Infamous (form. Notorious) is described as an opulent soap in which a female detective (Meagan Good) returns undercover to the wealthy and troubled Lawson family she grew up in — as the maid’s daughter — to solve the murder of the notorious heiress Vivian Lawson who was once her closest friend. The role that is being recast is that of bad boy womanizer Julian Lawson, the handsome brother of the murdered Vivian. Neil Jackson played the part in the pilot. This is the third recasting on a new NBC series. The female lead in comedy Animal Kingdom, played in the pilot by Amy Huberman, is also being recast. Additionally, the network will have to recast a role in the comedy Guys With Kids played in the pilot as a guest star in second position by Sara Rue after her other pilot, ABC’s Malibu Country, was picked up.

Upfronts are for the networks to pitch their shows to advertisers.
Since HBO and Showtime etc, are paid for networks and don't use advertisement, they dont have them

CBS said to set series pickups
Eye expected to order 2 comedies, 4 dramas
By Cynthia Littleton
Variety
CBS is said to have finalized its pilot pickup decisions late Saturday. Sources said orders are in the works for comedies ''Friend Me'' and ''Partners'' and four dramas.
Drama orders are said to be going to ''Vegas Rising,'' aka Ralph Lamb project; ''Golden Boy,'' about a fast-rising cop; ''Elementary,'' a contempo take on Sherlock Holmes set in Gotham; and ''Baby Big Shot,'' about a femme from a blue-collar background who works for a white-shoe Manhattan law firm.
Reps for CBS could not be reached for comment.
''Partners'' and ''Golden Boy'' hail from Warner Bros. TV. ''Big Shot'' is from Sony Pictures TV.
The others are from CBS TV Studios.

3 more updates from Deadline from the article I posted previously:
-Rumors are flying that most of the other CBS pilots are dead, including TROOPER, WIDOW DETECTIVE, DORF/FALCONE and SUPER FUN NIGHT. Information on OH FK, IT’S YOU has been conflicting, with some saying it’s dead and others suggesting that could still be a possibility for midseason.
-This is a mini-shocker. Word is that CBS is passing on the Nick Stoller comedy pilot ENTRY LEVEL. There has always been concern whether CBS would schedule a single-camera comedy in its blocks of all-multi-camera sitcoms but the network had expressed commitment to the genre. However, while Entry Level was received well and was an early frontrunner, it looks like CBS will again stick to all-multi-camera comedies next season. I also hear that APPLEBAUM is now dead too, along with Oh Fk, It’s You. That leaves only Elementary, Ralph Lamb, Baby Big Shot, Golden Boy, Friend Me, Partners and possibly Martin Lawrence in contention.
-I’ve confirmed that the Marin Lawrence comedy is not going forward, so here you have it: ELEMENTARY, RALPH LAMB, BABY BIG SHOT, GOLDEN BOY, FRIEND ME and PARTNERS appear to be CBS’ picks for next season.

Probably not. I bet they CBS hates Ashley just because she was on Disney.

Yes
Wasn't she supposed to star in one show on ABC and play a supporting role in another too?

I hope they don't move The Mentalist to Friday or Sunday, with all these new CBS dramas. That's where shows go to die.
