BREAKING NEWS: 'Vampire Diaries' Set DESTROYED by Fire

The hit CW series "The Vampire Diaries" set got a rude awakening Thursday morning when a fire ravaged the famous Mystic Grill facade and burned it to a crisp ... wreaking havoc to the tune of $200,000.

For those of you that don't watch the CW show ... the set is located in Covington, Georgia and doubles as Mystic Falls -- the supernatural town where Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder make sweet vampire love.

The Mystic Grill is the centerpiece of that town ... but in real life it is a law offices located in Covington Square park. On Thursday morning, those offices went up in flames when a truck smashed into an electrical pole behind the building.

The Covington Fire Department arrived on the scene early in the AM ... and according to the Newton Citizen, there was a lot of smoke damage to the building and the law offices were completely "gutted" by the blaze ... causing $200k worth of destruction.

No hot people were injured ... production wrapped in early April.

It's just the outside they use. They shoot the inside scenes elsewhere
I'm sure they have tons of stock footage of the outside they can keep using

I spent this lovely Saturday catching up on past episodes. I watch 10 episodes straight, I'm so happy school is coming to an end.

WOW The finale was epic!
Elena as a vampire should be interesting.
OMG I love "don't give a **** Bonnie" I was sick of her character getting the **** end of the stick for Elena, it was about time she worried about #1

The drowning scene was done beautifully, I got chills.
I'm glad it was Stefan who found them & not Damon. He would've saved Elena in a sec.

I was laughing with my friends how dumb was it for Rebekah to call Stefan & give him a heads up

Julie Plec: It’s the same magic that was able to put Klaus into Alaric’s body and Esther into Rebekah’s. So you can extrapolate the future of Joseph Morgan on this show from that logic.
Interviewer: We saw Klaus’ body burning like Mikael’s and Finn’s, so I’m thinking we’d only see Joseph Morgan himself again in a flashback or something.
Julie Plec: You know, I myself did not see his entire body burned to bits. So I can’t say 100 percent that we’ve seen the last of him.

What can we expect from CW's biggest hit Vampire Diaries? The new season begins with the "the knowledge that everything is changing. As Elena (Nina Dobrev) and her friends enter into the final stretch of high school before graduation sends them off on different paths, their bond to their home town of Mystic Falls takes on a deeper meaning when a new villain seems intent on destroying it." Joseph Morgan is still listed as a series regular, so take from that what you will... Vampire Diaries will reach syndication at the end of season 4! I'm on the fence about Elena being a vampire. I really miss Katherine. They need to bring her back this season. Katherine is probably my favorite character. She's so funny. She's the funny version of Damon's wannabe sarcastic ass. The season finale was great!!! The ending especially. I'm not ready for my Elenita to be a vampire just yet I HATE BONNIE!!!

^ Nina had to dye her hair for an upcoming movie role. The lady next to Steven is actress Shenae Grimes (90210).

Unfortunately, season 4 of Vampire Diaries won't start till October! However, on the positive side, less repeats for 2012-201313 schedule! Beauty And The Beast starring Kristin Kreuk will replace Secret Circle's 9 PM slot.

For 2012-13, The CW won't begin to premiere shows until "early October", two (or more) weeks later than the rest of the broadcast networks, effectively reducing their season length from recent seasons by about a month or so. Instead of programming 36-37 weeks, the CW will only program 33 (or fewer) weeks.
