Erotica is not a classic.

Born This Way. Erotica is definitely not Madonna's best. That would go to either Like a Prayer or Confessions on a Dancefloor.

The thing for me is that Born This Way is just pieced together so perfectly. Every beat just has Gaga inscribed into it. It's her album and for an artist that has been famous for around 3 years and to create an album like Born This Way is almost unheard of. Gaga will be an artist that will be cherished for many years to come.

I respect your opinion, but Born This Way is an unbridled mess of ego, not a masterstroke of genius. It's decent for this stage in her career but such a far cry from the artist she seems to believe (or the media claims) she is. It is authentic to her though and sonically adventurous.

That being said, Erotica is a bit of a failure too in that it was intended to be a concept album but is actually over the place. It makes a more profound impression lyrically and conceptually than BTW does though, which is why I voted for it.

I think it all came together well, but it was sort of an accident. I think Madonna went in to the studio with the intention of making an album that was entirely sexual and it actually turned out to be incredibly emotional when all was said and done. It almost made the title Erotica ironic.

Well, maybe, but the album was extremely emotional and multi dimensional so I love it.
