People don't get that "Pop" is an umbrella term. It's something lots of artists are. Adele is just as poppy as Lady Gaga, but a lot of people think Lady Gaga is more pop because "dancepop" has been popular for a longass time.

They're all pop. They're just under different subdivisions of the genre, and each one experiments in and is influenced by other, separate genres.

A pop star is a popular artist. It has nothing to do with the genre. They just share the same title.

History will show a dark time in our culture in which a million followers on Twitter became a key component to winning a Grammy. But thank God for Pink. While Christina Aguilera has a tendency to oversing, Britney Spears can't sing, and Lauryn Hill sorta stopped singing, Pink has managed to carve a brilliant 13-year-career by being something that is incredibly rare these days -- an artist. A complete artist. - CNN
Adele is questionable, but Rihanna and GaGa definitely are.
And not one single lie was told.

Not even shading anyone in particular, but I'm convinced if you put a green wig and cute pumps on an inanimate object and gave it one Top 40 Dr. Luke or RedOne single, you will see threads praising and stanning for it, comparing it to Michael Jackson and how they're slayed by its good personality
Lady Gaga and Rihanna are certainly pop artists. I'm not quite sure about Adele though. I seriously can't put her under a genre. Maybe alternative-pop? I don't know.
