See. That's exactly what pop music is. EVERYONE can listen to it. There's so much pop that is alienated towards girls and the gays. One of the reasons I really like this song.

None of those are even pop artists.
Rihanna is RNB/dance, Gaga is dance, Marina is electro pop, Maroon 5 is pop rock, pink is pop rock, Adele is soul/RNB, Lana del Rey is indie/alt. they all have pop influences but they aren't straight through pop.

repetition can be a great device in a pop song - this song is TOO repetitive, in my opinion. doesn't mean it isn't really ****ing catchy. hell, I like the song. but it is not a "perfect" pop song.

Of course it can be sometimes. But most pop music, and per the definition, is catchy music a wide arrange of people can listen to. You stray away from the pop genre when you go too off the formal. That's what subgenres are for, duh.
