Although I doubt pot will ever be dangerous enough (no matter how much additives or nicotine is added) to the point of it being able to OD after consuming large amounts in a short time like you can with alcohol. As a citizen I would have to say yes. Mainly because in certain parts weed causes a lot of violence because of drug lords. Legalizing it would mean that we essentially eliminate that due to the fact that anybody could buy it, and always have a supply handy if needed.

Overall, I'd like a mix of both. You should be able to grow your own weed if you choose, or go to the store and buy it. Even if a law was passed that if you grew it, than you couldn't sell it, it wouldn't be that big of an issue for me.

I personally think the dispensary system should just go Nation-wide, and licenses should be easily available at your local doctor.

I have never used marijuana and I don't think I ever will, but the government would be smart to legalize it (or at least lessen the severity of punishment).

It costs the government (and taxpayers) a LOT of money for all of those investigations and to jail those prosecuted. The money could be used for getting our economy back on track, creating jobs, etc., instead of investigating and arresting people for smoking a plant.

If legalized, it could also be taxed heavily to create more money to be used elsewhere. Sorry if any of this was already posted! I don't think the (few, if any) dangers in using marijuana outweigh the tremendous costs associated with fighting marijuana use.

You are making the assumption that all people care about their health.

If that were true teenagers wouldn't start smoking cigs.

Additives on cigs isn't just something done in the past. The level of nicotine continue to rises.

Finally, major businesses that will likely add additives to it have will have a major advantage over small "healthy" businesses. The power to mass market their product and deceive the public.

I don't even think it's about health, it's just that people WANT weed. People who smoke weed are taught by fellow pot-smokers to watch out for **** that is laced with anything. There's no market for "weed with additives."

I dunno, I just don't think I, as a healthy, active, intelligent pot smoker who pays taxes, contributes to society, etc., should be punished for a victimless crime because some people are going to make dumb decisions about it.

"Pot smokers" aren't a group. They're just ordinary people. Like any other randomly selected group of people you'll get smart people, like you, that will think intelligently, but you'll also get the stupid people that will still smoke cigs despite all the info about it.

I agree with the second. No one should be sent to jail for smoking or possessing small amounts of pot. Just not logical.

The dangers of alcohol and tobacco abuse are not pro-weed arguments. They are anti alcohol and tobacco arguments. Leading an argument by comparing it to other dangerous drugs is counter-productive.

I don't like the idea of the legalization of recreational weed because it becomes too accessible. Can you imagine the influx of high people on the road, in shops, and on the street high out of their mind all day, every day? It would be comical, but not productive in the least.

I enjoy weed in a party setting, but I do believe there are dangers associated with giving society the opportunity to use this recreational drug all day, every day. There are real dangers associated with it and a number of circumstances could be disastrous.

Yeah, I understood your point, and I think it's a valid one. I've heard that tobacco companies have factories or whatever already set up in anticipation for the day weed is legalized. Depending on the circumstances of its legalization, if tobacco starts controlling it, then it will probably get ****ed up. If, like Jameson says, it'll continue being distributed medically, then it should be just fine.
