I don't think it's that overrated, it's a really somber album, not very innovative, but it does what it does best

21 - Adele
After getting two Grammy's for her debut album Adele Adkins started working on her next album and the result was: 21. This album full of emotive and sad songS, creates an amazing atmosphere and you're likely to be related to this album. The power of her voice is amazing in tracks as Rolling In The Deep, Set Fire To The Rain & Someone Like You where you're gonna fall in love with her voice and emotive lyrics, the sad but truth Turning Tables, the well-executed cover from The Cure: Lovesong shows you that her voice is powerful even when she's not hitting high notes, this album and a step forward from her previous album even thought it has some low times (Take It All & I'll Be Waiting) the rest of the tracks make up for it and show us that you can make amazing songs and make them successful without falling into the generic area.
Standouts: Set Fire To The Rain, Turning Tables & Someone Like You.
Score: 95/100
My highest score and well-deserved!
Britney Spears
Lady Gaga
Adele ▲ Rihanna ▲ Loreen
Lana Del Rey ▲ Nelly Furtado ▲ Katy Perry

Album: 21
Top Tracks: Set Fire to the Rain, Turning Tables, Someone Like You
Score: 93/100
After her award winning debut album, 19, Adele came back with the super massive hit single Rolling in the Deep. Back when I first heard the song in November 2010, I instantly loved it and didn't really expect it to become a huge hit. It had a lot more fire in it unlike many of the songs from 19, thanks to the rockier sound it took. As more songs were revealed prior to the UK release of 21, especially after her heart wrenching performance of Someone Like You on Jools, I knew that 21 would become a top favorite of mine for that year. In fact, it's my #2 favorite album of 2011. While the album may be mostly about heartaches, sound wise, like from the alternative sounding Rolling in the Deep to the country flavored Don't You Remember, it tiptoed to different genres as well. One of the album's highlights is the piano-led midtempo, Set Fire to the Rain, with soaring vocals accompanied by piano and orchestra, the song never failed to deliver from start to finish. Listeners may also have the urge to dance to the groovy tracks Rumour Has It and I'll Be Waiting, with the former having a more pronounced beat like Rolling in the Deep. The album ends with the melancholic and anthemic piano ballad, Someone Like You, truly ending the album on a high note. In the end, For such a personal album it was able to transcend that boundary and became diaries for millions of people who were captivated by Adele, and that certainly speaks volume of her music. 21 has made its mark in music history and will be revered by many.

|
1. Score: 95
2. Three top tracks: Rolling In The Deep, I'll Be Waiting, One And Only
"21" in my opinion barely has a weak track. "Rolling In The Deep" is a brilliant uptempo opener with elements of pop and soul that has great crossover appeal. "Rumour Has It" is an infectious track with a great storyline in the lyrics, atmosphere provided by the backing chants and, in my opinion, one of the best last lines of any song ("Rumour has it he's the one I'm leaving you for").
"Turning Tables" and "One And Only" are moving, emotional album tracks which are easily single quality. "Set Fire To The Rain" is a pure pop gem, up there as a 'catchy' singalong song of 2012 with the best any artist can offer. One of my personal favourites, and an unrecognised gem, is "I'll Be Waiting", a rare upbeat, hopeful song that brings the album back to life in its second half. The cover of the Cure's "Lovesong" is a much slower and moodier version than the rather quirky original - but a moving interpretation nonetheless. Then of course there is the incomparable "Someone Like You", a piano and voice-only ballad among the most affecting of recent decades.
If there are slightly 'weaker' tracks then, IMHO, they are "Don't You Remember", "He Won't Go" and "Take It All". However none of these can be described as filler - the entirety of "21" is great listening on the first, tenth or twentieth go, and is deservedly the bestselling album of our time.
(P.S. that may have been wordy but it was only 10 sentences!)

The final reviews are
Score: 81/100
Reviews: Lana's emotional debut album struck a cord with the general public. Even with a failed SNL performance and backlash from the blogsphere, she still manages to come out on top. Baroque pop ballads and dark sadcore hip-hop songs dominate most of the album, with lighter fluffier songs coming into save it from drowning in its own tears. Overall a solid album that will be the basis of comparison for every single other indie act out there, and will be a prime example of a successful crossover.

Edit:Not up for a proper review of 21.I haven't listened to it enough to make proper statements.
It's just not that great and extrodinary as some people think that's my thought

Top Three Songs: Someone Like You, One and Only, Take it All
Adele's sophomore album, 21, is an album that comes around every decade or so. It's a one-of-a-kind, unexplained, door busting seller. While deserving of praise, it comes off as particularly over-rated. The singles are solid. However, the songs that remain on the album are the real gems, sans, "Someone Like You," of course, being the best on the record. It's an album full of emotion and passion from heart-warming Adele. It's one of the best releases in recent years, but someone leaves a feeling of wanting by the end of the record. Something's missing, despite being a solid effort, especially from such a new artist.

Who said it's high art? A great album can have simple lyrics and melodies too, it doesn't have to be revolutionary or innovative to be a good album.

Again, you don't have to base your review and score in other people's opinion, It's not fair to give it a high or low score just to balance things out.

I think if something is completely complacent, it's bad.
It doesn't bring anything new to the table.

Final Score
The final score for Adele's "21"
The final reviews are Genre: Indie Pop, Blues, R&B, Soul
Score: 84/100
Reviews: 2011 was the year of Adele, nobody can deny that. She had the crossover success that most indie artists only dream of, but she wasn't a sell out, she made a heartbreaking album about personal discovery and acceptance. Combining pop, soul, indie pop, and blues music, Adele has managed to convey an album that acts as a window to her private life, and lets us inside her world. One of the most successful albums in history, we got a refreshing change from all the electronic dance music that is heard ever so often, and created a special bond with viewers.

The Fame Monster - 87
Top 3 - Teeth, Bad Romance, Dance in the Dark
Gaga's EP and corollary to "The Fame" is a much better piece of art. It is not the most innovative Pop album, but it does bring new ideas to the table, and warps the "electropop" stuff that was circulating around the whole decade, and brings it together with touches of Queen-isms and Synthpop. Lead single Bad Romance, remains Lady Gaga's strongest single to date. The albums weakest moments, Alejandro, and So Happy I Could Die are still strong Pop songs and give the album no real unlistenable moment. The best song on the album, the closer Teeth, a Gospel inspired tune leaves the listener 100% sure that Gaga is able to bring her own brand to the table, and is an assurance that Gaga will never settle for just mediocrity.

The Fame Monster - 95
Key songs : Bad Romance , Dance In The Dark , Monster
An album that skyrocketed an artist to the top of the charts and hearts of the general public alike , cannot be anything less than a grounbreaking pop record. A flamboyant , dark record which established Lady Gaga as the new 'it' girl of pop music . The Fame Monster followed the same path of The Fame , musically wise , however the album embraced darker and bolder sounds and was musically driven by many European music trends [ see Bad Romance , Alejandro , etc ] It's content was inspired by Gaga's 'Monsters' , which she encountered throughout the journey of her meteoric rise to the fame . Its dance , electronic nature , combined with -what seems to be - iconic lyrics spawned a landmark pop record whose influence in pop culture was massive. Summing up , The Fame Monster was quite the opposite of Gaga's first album , both in content and sound .It is dark , simple and has all the elements that define Gaga's persona . Simply put a phenomenal sophomore album .
