Because no matter how good you are as a singer/performer, no matter how much success you have, you will always come second to Diddy. Bad Boy was a vehicle for Diddy to promote himself and only himself.
Look at what he did with Danity Kane -- platinum selling girl group that had 2 back to back #1 albums, had hot hit with Damaged, yet ****ed them over for his own project. He had Dawn think she was going solo and had her working on his secret album, one of the girls found out and it immediately caused dissension in the group. It ended with him disbanding the group after firing Aubrey and D.Woods because she called him out on it.
Dream had a good thing going. They were doing well on tour, their singles were doing well on radio -- then drama within the group over favoritism (and alleged sleeping with Diddy) caused the blonde Melissa to quit the group. He quickly replaced her with Casey, had the group re-record the songs recorded with Melissa and repackage them for their second album. He forced a hyper sexualized image on the then-teenage girls, something they were very uncomfortable with. After much delays and ********, he decided not to release their second album and disbanded the group. It wasn't until years later did their album get released internationally.
Look at all the other artists he'd had under his banner, artists who had good hits and albums did well, they all took a backseat to Diddy's self-promotion. At the end of the day, for him to claim to be a good businessman, he can't seem to manage a successful career for anyone but himself.
