I thought it would be fun to just have a thread where we list the worst mistakes of the pop girls. No answer is wrong because this is everyone's own point of view. Hopefully no stan fights or anything like that happen:
Rihanna: Her first two album eras and more recently the Talk That Talk era. (Not counting the success of We Found Love, of course.)
Beyonce: Obsessed
Gaga: Not making The Fame Monster a full album.
Britney: Shooting the Outrageous music video.
Katy: Part Of Me 3D Movie (I don't think it will do well at the box office.)
Nicki: The year 2012 has been a bad career move for her.
Christina: The Bionic era.
Mariah: Glitter.
Taylor: Not releasing Forever + Always off Fearless AND most of the single choices for Speak Now.
Miley: The Can't Be Tamed era.
Madonna: The Hard Candy or MDNA eras.
Kesha: The Cannibal era.
Hilary: The Most Wanted era.
Ashlee: The Bittersweet World era.
Jessica: Her career post Newlyweds.

That's all I can thank of at the moment.

I actually liked that era... her biggest mistake so far is probably ending the era too soon. Animal could have had more singles, and so could cannibal. Now we are waiting forever for the new era

Katy: Re-releasing Teenage Dream.

Christina: Bionic.
Mariah: Glitter.
Madonna: Thinking she could make it as an actress/director.

Ke$ha's worst mistake is taking so long to begin her second full length album era.

Especially if she misses her chance to have her lead single be the Summer 2012 anthem.

Yes, it was a huge success at the box office but the movie was a tragic mess, Beyonce was better than that.

I didn't have that much to chose from with her but the Cannibal era wasn't really needed to me.

We don't know if its a mistake yet. If her first single flops or takes too long to start smashing, then yeah, it is a mistake. But if it starts in a good way, imo it would show that making us wait was a good thing!

If she misses the summer thing, then MAYBE we could say she/management made a mistake!

I feel like the Best Of era (do we even call it an era?) was worse for Hilary. I know she was required to do it to get out of her contract but I always just look at it as a permanent stain on her career. Releasing Reach Out instead of Holiday, the opening week sales, it just angers me.

Not that many people know about Best Of and Hilary likes it that way.

Rihanna's first two eras were perfect career filler. Get her name out there slowly for Umbrella. Had it not been for the cushion, Umbrella wouldn't have hit the threshold it needed in its worldwide domination and propelling Rihanna to the status she holds today. If anything, putting in the quick effort for the first two eras was the smartest idea. Very smart and really good timing.


Had she started with GGGB as her first album, she would not have been successful. That album needed star power to back it up, and that's what MOTS/AGLM gave her.

A lot of missed opportunities here;

GaGa: Most of Born This Way era
Britney: Kevin Federline
Hilary: Not Most Wanted, but Dignity
Ashlee: SNL + Orange Bowl incidents

As for Madonna, I think the Erotica era is probably the biggest misstep in the history of pop girls (even though I personally love it). American Life was a big crash-and-burn moment too.
