Let's be honest, Britney and Beyonce are gradually receding into the past, they don't belong in this list. Although Beyonce could easily turn things around with the next album.

Adele is clearly the biggest female in the world right now. She's dominating sales like no other artist as ever done. Her music is everywhere. And she has done it truly globally on a massive scale. Plus she dominates all the award shows. Its all about Adele in 2011/2012.

The other girls can fight for the scraps. Gaga can have the runner up spot.

Adele is the biggest ARTIST period. Not just for females. And
Gaga and Rihanna are back of her. Whether it be males or females those three artists are the most successful right now.
