but i usually listen to Channel 95.5 (Detroit) on my iHeartRadio app, and they usually play a lot of hip hop songs just (i.e. "The Motto," "Work Out," and "N***as In Paris"), and it's a good balance with the pop music they play

2000-2007 was just the last decent era for mainstream music period. I have alot of friends who aren't even big Urban listeners and even they complain about the amount of generic bubblegum garbage clogging up Top 40.

Yeah, 95.5 and WKYS are pretty much my destination. Hell, even Mix 106.5 is better than 99.5 at t

I remember back when I was in middle school I used to turn on Top 40 before bed on my stereo and hear Ridin' Dirty by Chamillionaire at least 3 times in the hour. Good times

I love Ridin' Dirty!! I used to think I was all gangsta when I was a teenager, but really I was probably more comparible to the "White and Nerdy" remix of it haha.
It's similar in my country aswell. I remember a few years ago I used to hear songs like Run This Town on the radio all the time, but ****** in Paris was a big hit in my country and they just wouldn't play it. Mirror by Lil Wayne was big here and they wouldn't play it either.

I really hope so, even though it's rather unlikely.

"Ridin' Dirty" (and most of the Southern rap at that time) was terrible.

Unless it is some kind of hot pop feature like LTWYL, I don't see it happening tbqh. Perhaps some new hip hop artist who appeals to Pop radio comes up in the following months, but I doubt it.

Do you think maybe Crank That made a lot of the general public start seeing the entire genre as a joke? And that's ended up hurting its commercial success?

Yeah lol. That song was lucky to come out in the download era though, otherwize it wouldn't have got #1.
There's bad #1s from every type of chart era. In a few years when people are complainig there's no dance and electropop around anymore, some people will be saying "Thank goodness, remember Like a G6 and Sexy and I Know It?".

That song was so stupid, yet so catchy. I remember catching this old white lady bumping to it in the grocery store. It was SO funny.

I hope so, I wanted Take Care to hit #1 but Drake left that video for too long and the hype died

Yeah! And the 'snap-yo-fingers' dance too.
Ay Bay Bay was the ****ing worst. I agree w/NE, I loved those songs so much back then, but in retrospect, it's just....
Crunk basically killed what was left of Hip Hop, cred and all.

That was definetley the end of the Hip-Hop domination era. It was a fun song, but it just really turned Hip-Hop into a joke.

I Predict:
1) Both Of Us - B.o.B feat. Taylor Swift
2) Whip It- Nicki Minaj
3) MAYBE Ciara's comeback single (***Disclaimer***she needs to get that working on all avenues first)

That snap-yo-fingers lean side-to-side dance was so ghetto. And I couldn't STAND Ay Bay Bay Lord, that was awful.
