i think this is a very very hard choice to make, they are both really good in their own ways though ithink im gonna have to go with electra heart, i think one thing that really sways me towards this album is the imagery that has gone towards it that has really made me fall alot more in love with marina

Actually Sex Yeah was originally on it instead of Teen Idle. She said in an interview that she was going to write a song in a couple of days which turned out to be VOTD. The switch of SY & TI was very spontaneous.

A great switch imo. Sex, Yeah is great, but really is a random track. Plus Teen Idle is just ah may zing!

It's a type of analogy used to describe something (an object/situation/etc) by making out it's the same as something else. Starring Role is on the whole a metaphor in itself, as it's speaking as if her position in the relationship is a part in a play:

Interesting! As much as I love Sex Yeah, it really would not have been as well suited for the album as Teen Idle.

I've had Electra Heart long enough now to say that TFJ may have more replay value for me. I like the quirkiness of it. Electra heart is still amazing but it's so much smoother and the production and her voice are so streamlined...It's just very tame compared to TFJ.

Don't get me wrong, I still love it. I'm just glad I have TFJ too. I think I might like it better.

I think I prefer The Family Jewels over Electra Heart. I was so excited to listen to EH (I would play the previews every single day and listen to Primadonna 24/7), but I don't know if it was because I was sick or something but I haven't enjoyed it that much.

I love the concept and everything. I was going through things similar to Marina at around the same time (heartbreak, feeling played) so every time she released a new song I was like, "YES! Some understanding!" But now that all emotion is gone I just feel like she could have brought in more about the archetypes rather than all those heartbreak/love songs, which are very similar.

I feel like Lies, Starring Role, Living Dead, and Power and Control could have all been made into one big song. They all kind of blend together, especially the latter two. They sound too similar.

My favourite moments are where the story starts to change/progress. Especially with Valley of the Dolls - coming to the realization that you are taking on other identities. Hypocrates with the FU to people telling her who to be. And Fear and Loathing, the big release!

As beautiful as Fear and Loathing is, I think Electra Heart dies at the end of her story. Anyone else think the same? The chanting at the end kinda gives it a death-like feeling to me.

So I haven't listened to the whole album yet, but "The State of Dreaming" is absolutely amazing and is probably my favorite Pop Song since The Edge of Glory. It's absolutely perfect. I never thought she could top "Hollywood" but she did.

If Sex Yeah was supposed to be on the official tracklist instead off Teen Idle, probably Teen Idle was going to be a deluxe track, so basically there would no harm done.

Bubblegum bitch is still basic to me. It one of my least faves. Lonely Hearts Club is my fave. Get into it sis

I initially thought you meant T.I was supposed to be on a track and didn't make it. I was so depressed for a few seconds that we missed out on that collab.
