The Verge is reporting that Microsoft will offer a preview of a "Spotify-like" music service, codenamed "Woodstock," during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas in June.

The new music service is supposed to be a Zune replacement and will be available across different platforms including Windows 8, Android, iOS and Xbox, according to The Verge, citing sources familiar with the company's plans.

I recently made the switch to Spotify and I gotta say I actually enjoy it a lot more. You don't really have to waste time/money downloading music. Not to mention the endless onslaught of updates for itunes

There's apps for Android and iPhone and a couple other platforms, you need a Premium plan to stream on your phone and it has last.fm scrobbling built in.

Spotify is in the process of raising a new round of financing that would value the popular online music service at up to $4 billion, according to people with knowledge of the matter, in the latest eye-popping Internet company valuation.

Spotify so far is on track to raise about $220 million. Goldman Sachs is to lead the round with about $100 million, or about half of the round, two of these people added. The people asked for anonymity because they said they would lose their jobs if their identities were known. The company, which is still in discussions with several major venture capital firms, may change the size of the financing round, depending on demand.

Yess people are starting to realize the way to the light!

And people can install apps for Spotify on iPhone/iPad. I have the iPad app and it's design is beautiful. If I wasn't in love with Spotify before, I definitely am now.

well, sure, if one is willing to be paid a lot every month for something they're not going to use a whole lot. Spotify is for hipsters and people who like LOVE music. most people in general aren't like that, tho. so it might take years, maybe decades, until that happens.
