In a previous thread today some say that Lady GaGa's album, 'The Fame', is generic and didn't bring anything new to the table. Is this true?

That being said, a lot of the non-singles were really basic and generic for the time.

Songs like Poker Face, Just Dance, LoveGame, and Paparazzi weren't.

Back then, it was fresh. People only say it's generic these days because they're comparing it to music now.

When it was released it was fresh and new. There was really not many songs with similar production. But if it was released NOW it would seem more on the generic side. So the answer is no

Uh, no. It was surely more commercial than her recent stuff, but no.

"Just Dance" stared a trend for dance pop. It wasn't the first, but it was the first to do incredibly well.
"Poker Face" was KILLER & made her stay because she was "fresh", "new", & "different".
"LoveGame" was still more "fresh" sounding than everything else...
"Paparazzi" raised the standard for other popstars. It wasn't dance & it was WAY different than what you usually heard on radio.

All in all... Gaga has never released anything generic. No.
