I'm surprised it hasn't made more to be honest. It's wider appeal and subject matter have helped but, not to the extent I would've thought. I wonder how close it's final gross will come close to that of Shrek 2 ($441M domestically)?

A lot of predictions a year ago were even under $100m. It has blown so far past everyone's expectations.

But still flopping worldwide You girls are forgetting 2/3s of Harry Potter's grossing comes from overseas.

I haven't seen it and I have not heard anyone around me mention it. Whilst the last Harry Potter movie was freaking everywhere.

That was the past. They knew exactly what they were doing and that was setting this series up as the a Twilight replacement. There was plenty of buzz and huge promo. It should be doing a lot better internationally. At least it has a lot of local love. It will always sit in the shade of HP.

Oh and the Twilight films. They gross a lot more internationally. So far.

It really deserves any success it achieves. It's a very well done film and left me wanting to see Catching Fire already. I guess I should just read it although, I know once I do I will be judging the movie against the book and not just enjoying it as a movie going experience like I did with HG.

Hunger Games isn't flopping internationally. It's grossed 217 so far overseas. Yeah it's a lot less than what it has made in North America but it's not bad.

Like Twilight (the first got 199 million overseas while NM made 413 overseas) the second installment will do a lot better internationally.
